Should I return to EVE because of the update?

QazeQaze Member Posts: 247

I played EVE before they did the big update. I was attracted to it by the (apparently) mature community, spacey theme, and nice graphics. I have to say, I found it a bit slow (gameplay-wise, not in the way that my computer couldn't handle it), so I quit. Now they've upgraded the graphics and added more stuff, is it worth giving it another try?

Depth and content are continually being added, but it is basically the same game. Did you play after jump to zero was added? I think this is the biggest single improvement in terms of game speed. Personally, I think the biggest factor in enjoying the game is the people you play with. You might use the trial to see if you can find a group of people you like who are on the same time you are.

I'm not sure, it was a long time after it was released so yeah probably.

TBH I don't think it's worth trying again, I prefer fast-paced shooters. It's just if the gameplay was dramatically different I'd probably give it another go.

EDIT: Cocked up the backgrounds in this post lol

Eve still is the same game. They didnt change the core concept, just details.

I hardly see any difference in core gameplay after Trinity. It still requires an immense amount of patience to play and the combat isn't as exciting and fast paced as say: X3 or Freelancer's. When playing Eve you really just have to think of it more as an RTS and if you can find that acceptabe - just take the time to become interested in the economy and amount of complexities the game has to offer.

The only other game that I think could compare to Eve at the moment is POTBS, and the combat in that game is a little more immersive and action-packed, although I found it far less tactical and there was too much [turn.. shoot.. turn.. shoot].

I think the combat system got a little bit more complex, more strategic and (even) less biased towards hyper expensive ships...

the gathering of intel and the logistics demand now much more skil points than combat itself.

in other words: covert ops, black ops and the logistical support of titans or motherships is much more skill intense than the other side of pure dps combat. the damage motherships or titans do is dwarfed by their logistical uses.

in my opinions EVE becomes more and more strategic

small changes, but they will have serious measurable long term effects

The PvE is very boring, as the AI on the pirates is more primitive than the demons from DOOM.  Not DOOM 3, DOOM.  Whacking swarms of mindless frigates gets boring pretty quick.

Actually, the PvE gets complicated in 0.0. We just finished a very difficult encounter with neutralizer-towers, about 20 battleships etc.
We needed two logistics and some damagedealers, and the respawns and cycling neuts were giving us a hard time.

It's a part of PvE, however, that few will ever see if they do not want to PvP, too.
