Yes, I like world of warcraft, and I was wondering...is diablo good? I've never tried it.Yes, i've never tried diablo in my life before...laugh at me....now....kay...done?How is the game, what rating from a scale of 1-10 would you rate it and why?

Are you asking about Diablo 1 or 2? Anyways it doesn't really matter they are both great games and if you have the time you might consider both. Diablo 1 was great in its time but most would probably find it boring now. Diablo 2 is the same way. The story line in Diablo 2 is more developed than Diablo 1. I played the hell out of Diablo 2 when it came out and had a blast. I would give the single player a 7. It's a pretty good single player game but I usually like the multiplayer aspect of games. The multiplayer portion of the game was very entertaining if you like doing the same thing over and over again in hopes of getting uniques to trade for higher quality uniques. All in all Diablo 2 is a great game and its probably worth the 40$ that you spend buying the battle chest.
Now I've read some reviews, and most state it's just getting gear then going out and killing monsters over and over and over again to level up and go find bigger monsters and repeat....is that really true?
Pretty much but it was and is fun to some people. I'm not real sure how many people still play online I have not been on in a long while.

The diablo games where great, but I would go for Mythos http://www.mythos.com/ its made by some of the guys that made Diablo.
Best of all its gona be F2P (with no RMT AFAIK), signup for beta.

It is fun.. but cant be compared to "modern" games.. Is not a mmorpg ... but it is an awesome hack and slash game haha.. Diablooooooo
If you watch The Karate Kid backwards it's about this karate champ that just kinda slowly becomes a pussy and ends up moving back to Jersey
If you think WoW has a bit farming to it, then don't even consider Diablo. In Diablo you spend all the time running Baal runs (his name was that?) to get better items. All runs go exactly the same and there is no difference to it at all. Money is worth nothing and you won't come across any good items until you can create a sorceress with lots of "higher % to find good items" and start solo running Baal.
Diablo was good when it was new, now (and before too, but more remarkable now) it's just an eternal farm fest to get better gear and trade gear. It's like taking all the grind from WoW, doubling it and removing all the other aspects.
If you haven't understood it by now, no I don't recommend Diablo at all. Don't try it, it's outdated.
To be honest,Diablo isnt all that great anymore,its 12 years old and looks it. Diablo 2 is much better,and although looking very old and archaic now,its still a great game to play.
Modern takes on Diablo are Fate the game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vkk6QglLIYo which is a single player affair,with the usual skill trees and stats style of diablo,except here you can also put points into weapon mastery. Also features pets.
Another one to look at is dungeon runners http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwuaPj5F1Kg which is similar to the above but with full 3D graphics. Its a very free form game where you can learn skills at the appropriate levels from magic,archer/ranger skills and warrior/paladin attacks. You can also wear what ever armour and weapons you like,so a heavy armor + magic or bow is possible. unfortunately,it doesnt have any wilderness areas as such,only towns and linked 'dungeon' areas. Grouping is very easy,and each dungeon and piece of loot are totally random.There is a pvp server which has up to 5 v 5,though ive not tried it. Its very playable and has had generally good reviews.Optional small sub fee for extras.
Finally, Mythos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=talPZlkB6tY . This is another online attempt,which unlike dungeon runners,has actual wilderness areas as well as instanced dungeons.There are also towns and outposts where you can meet up with other players. Its again very free form,so you can create pretty much whatever you like character wise,each archytype has several branches and is kinda 3 generic classes along with other multiple paths,so you can be generic mr warrior or mr mage,or a mage who wears leather armor and shoots pistols,or a heavy tank with blood AOE and several minions to do the dirty work. You also have the stats system similar to diablo and dungeon runners,but also a traits system similar to lotro. Like diablo you can also hire NPCs to help you in your battles,although they arent great. There is also open pvp on the way this month along with crafting,where you can put points into a skill tree to be able to modify stats on armor your create. Difficulty scales,normal mode is easy with 3 respecs,elite is much harder with none.Also you can follow a normal quest line or instead buy levelled maps and do those instead;epic maps being the toughest,especially if you choose one for a higher recommnded level that yourself.Theres also scaling quests that can be done at any time.

personally,id go out and buy Diablo 2 and its expansion pack LoD as they will be dirt cheap,and then download dungeon runners and test them out. Mythos is open beta within the next month or 2,so you can check that out as well.
I doubt any will 'replace' WoW for you,but instead are more of thing to pop in and out of for an hour or 2 whenever you feel like it.

The Diablo games were great. But that was then and this is now. Diablo's graphics are horridly old not to mention , I have no idea how I kept playing in the same dungeon for countless hours, days and months. I doubt most people would like Diablo If they had never played it before. Diablo 2 ... you may enjoy. Its fun but alas it is old as well. I feel the only people who could appreciate it are people who used to play.

The difference is just you hate blizzard so much that your opinion are more or less invalid, when it comes to blizzard games really, i still wonder what blizzard did, did they chop off your ding dong? Your hatred towards blizzard has always been rather amusing.Diablo is probably way too outdated at the giving time, unless you like classics, Diablo 2 and it's expansion were great and a blast to play, dunno about now though. My guess would possible that you would find it boring to some degree but they were some of the best, when they came out.
But anyways heroes of might and magic however were quite great, especially Heroes of might and magic 2 but they are more or less turn based strat....
Try out Diablo 1 and 2 for a weekend or something it got nice classic worth and a climse on how hack and slash met it's champion hehe....

Maybe you do not understand why he would not care. He never once asked about RPG's, or types of RPGs, he asked If this game might be worth playing. Your opinion is more than fine to post ....these are forums as you so clearly pointed out to me. Drifting off topic to flame a game is nothing more than trolling. Yea D1 & D2 has allways been the "King" out there though its old, now, and though there is alot of other games othere the old aswell, that had alot more to offer then Diablo. But there is this "Thing" about D1 & D2, well i quess you have to have growd up whit this games to understand it.
But it never happend 
Beside that it was the world that more or less presented us for the MMORPG classes, as the most powerfull ones. None of this classe will never been seen in a MMORGP at this lvl of skills or ablity´s.
But still it was The World Of DIablo "alot" were waiting for and not WOW.
Dont listen to half these people. Diablo 2 is a VERY high rated game and if you notice ALLLLL you will ever see is Diablo 2 Clones and if you EVER see hack n slash game in the review i gurantee it will mention Diablo 2 because diablo is the Godfather of Hack N' Slash and its NOT just a grind fest in fact its funner than WoW in the aspect as they dont suck ur money every month.
But in this game Yeah you do runs to get gear but you also level up create your own character builds and honestly the action is SOOOO awesome in this game that grinding isnt bad.
Try out the demo and dont listen to any of us, see for yourself i loved it many do. Trust me as old as it is thousands still play and you will never have trouble finding people to play with.
I gurantee if World of Diablo comes out it will top WoW because diablo is a more popular IP then warcraft is.
and if Diablo 3 comes out it will top sales charts and set records.

Lad, I was talking about about Might and Magic VI: Mandate of Heaven, or then Might and Magic VII or even Might and Magic VIII were all great. Not Heroes of Might and Magic if you know the difference.
And my hate is not versus Blizzard. My hate is against Diablo and WoW. Warcraft 1/2/3 Real time strategies were actually pretty solid. Not as good age of empires series, but nevertheless one of the best.

REALITY CHECK
Diablo II is the undisputed champion of pixel-candy crack item collection madness. An absurd amount of items to find and play with, many of which provide unique playstyle choices. The game is also the root model of WoW's skill tree system...though Diablo II did it much better than WoW has.
If action-arcade style RPG gaming, button-mashing kill-em-all style gaming is something you like then Diablo II is about as good as it ever gets.
The Diablo series is considered among gamers to be the granddaddy of all action RPG's. Personally, I thought the games were great. If you dont have them, I highly suggest buying the battlechest ASAP and trying the games out. Definitly loads of fun. Though the game is kind of dated now, it still holds its own against many more modern games. People still play D2 online, and in fact, as we speak, the kids next door in my dorm are farming for items right now. Its true, D2 is now just a farm fest online for the best items, but it still is fun. D2 is practically timeless - it has been going on for years and i dont think anyone will stop playing it, a testament to the genius of the game.
