I was wondering... how hard is it to dual boot? And what does dual booting look like? How do the operating systems integrate?
I'm looking into dual booting my pre-installed Vista with Ubuntu. I found an article here that gives a pretty good tutorial, IMO. Just looking for advice here and everything that I should know about dual booting. Linux looks pretty good and I want it on my computer

How will it run, though? Meaning, will I be able to opt between Vista and Ubuntu on command while on my computer? If not, then how is that managed? Vista graphics, Ubuntu tasks
As of right now, I'm doubting a dual boot system, I don't really see how it could work or any advantages from it.
edit - I read the dual boot Wikipedia article, and it seems that both won't run at the same time, if I'm not mistaken? I could switch between the two on every startup. Now, I would want to back up all my data on my computer before I go and install Ubuntu on my computer. Any way I could go about doing this free of charge?
edit2 - Also, if you don't mind, could somebody read through my linked article in the main post and see if that is correct? I don't feel like messing up my $1200 computer.
And if something went wrong, would my computer get far enough in the startup to where I could completely reset my computer? (like by pressing F10 on startup and doing a complete system restore, the day it was manufactured)
Well, I'm about to burn the Linux live DVD and install it. I'll let you know after all is said and done
You've been a big help, Nasica. I thank you with everything that I have
OK, Nasica, you are my hero. I installed Linux on my system, and it is so cool! So much more functional than any Windows OS. Only problem is compatibility with games
Oh well, now I need help configuring my network... Linux is not registering my Linksys WUSB54GC as being connected to my computer, and I cannot install anything that is .exe (corruption maybe? or is Linux not able to work with .exe?) Anyway, once I get that resolved, Linux will be my main OS. Hurrah! Or as the Romans would say... euge!
