MMORPG developers should develop MMORPGS for Mac OS X aswell!

Hey. A lot of MMORPG developers seem to ignore MMORPGS for Mac OS X and the Mac-platform. Blizzard made a Mac version to World of Warcraft as they do with their other games and that is great. There is a market there, and many of us gamers are sick of having to get Windows (with Boot Camp) to play MMORPGs. Stop ignoring Mac users! It is easier than before to make a Mac version now and people want to play MMORPGs in Mac OS X.

Do you know any MMORPGs that have Mac versions except Blizzard? Do you know any developers that will make Mac versions in the future? What will happen do you think?

There are a lot of game developers who also develop for Mac .. just that the majority of the market are for the PC.

Do you have any examples? MMORPGs seem to be very rare with Mac OS X.

This issue will become less relevant as Mac continue to move toward using PC elements in their hardware and OS.

As always the problem here is simple....the investors want their money back.  So when making a multi-million dollar game, these guys have to have a market plan that will reach the most potential buyers.  Blizzard was a long established company before its MMO, and it also used engine elements from other games it has done in making it (which made the conversion simpler...since they had already done it before on the engine).

Don't be angry with the MMO guys....be mad at Mac for making it so much of a hassle financially to DO this sort of thing.  One shouldn't need two different programmer sets for the same game.

    You are ... serious?

All joking aside, it's not cost effective. Not worth the money to do it since very few people use Macs for gaming. And, those that do, know how to boot up Windows for it. As you've said, Boot Camp. So at the end of the day, it doesn't seem to be worth it.

The market may be there, I won't deny that, but the market is insignificant when looked at in the grand scheme of things. I don't personally know anyone who uses Macs for gaming, and those I've heard of always have Windows available to boot on their Mac.

    get a real computer.

but seriously Macs have their purpose, and MMO's aren't it.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

Oh I don't know about that. Besides the fact that WoW runs quite well (natively) on my Mac I'm not so enamored of Windows (especially Vista) to start touting why Windows is the superior gaming machine.

Having said that, I have two machines. A (now old) Mac (which runs exceptionally well) for real and serious things and a PC for games. There are just more games developed for PC's so I have two machines.

Should I ever need a new mac I would most likely use bootcamp and play PC games that way.

But as others have said, it has to make financial sense to start developing for OS X and there are probably not enough players to justify it.

Come on now.  If Mac users are willing to pay $3000 for a computer that's only worth $1500, it stands to reason that they'd also pay $100 and $30/month for a game that PC users are only willing to pay $50 and $15/month for.

    They could make a killing.

Which is the mac's purpose? Im professional designer, use tools such as after effects, photoshop, indesign, illustrator, flash, etc, in this world is too trendy to have a white mac, but hell, instead of buying a mac for 3k i bought my windows for 2k, and I can say I have an incredible machine, which renders my heaviest videos in a second, and on top of that, I can run every single videogame in max settings at an incredible resolution.

Mac is like alienware, you pay for the brand.

WoW also runs beatifully on a below average computer.  64MB VRAM, 256MB Ram on the computer downstairs.
