An MMORPG often cost money to play, they are big, more serously game gender, but its not just for kids with 10-15 hours per day doing nothing... People who have a life, family and a work, what about uss? Well the fast traveling going to be in WAR, you can choose places and get there instantly...(?) I think i read it somewhere.. And the mounts is fast to get.. Not so hard to get to max 40 lv and i dont think the mount will come in the latest of levels. When you want to get to the other side, why not teleport with scrolls, teleport zones.. The game is still there. You can explore when ya got da time! ^^

What about you?  What about you!!??

I'll tell you what about you!  If you have a family, a career, and no time to play??  DON'T PLAY!  WORK, take care of your kids, your wife, your job!  I'm sick and tired of you people whining about it.  It's all me me me, why can't I have everything handed to me on a silver platter!??!  First it's instant travel, then it's free gear, then you get to have all the best loot in the game, free mounts, THEN, you can teleport to the end boss in the dungeon and one shot it!  Then only casuals are allowed to PvP because hardcore players are too difficult to kill.  Then there is no PvP, no stealing, no ganking, no killing anything.  Let go have a damn tea party and play truth or dare like little girls!!

Get over it!! Deal!!  If you don't have enough time to travel for 10 minutes and do a quest, then you don't have enough time for the game!  Use your brain.  There is a thing called LOGIC.  No time = No play!  I won't get more than 25 hours a week and you don't see me having a hissy fit about it.  I'm just so damn sick and tired of casual players thinking that the world should be built to their standards.  GO TAKE CARE OF YOUR FAMILY AND STOP PLAYING MMO'S!!!

Dude, that's a little shitty. Seriously, he makes a good point. I have a career that keeps me from playing, a wife and an 8 month old baby. So basically, I play when I have the time. Should I not play due to the fact that I only have an hour or so a day? Perhaps... but I hope not because I enjoy it when I can play.

You make some good points also; while you don't want to spend 45 mins getting to a location, you also don't want instant teleportation as it would take away a lot from the game. That's the hard part though, finding a middle ground in travel. Keeping it realistic (to an extent) and making it rediculous. They can easy handle this with some sort of summon feature. That can let the folks who like to travel 45 mins do it, and summon me when they get there...lol.

Anyway, just wrote to say, we with careers, wives and children have a place in the gaming community, and a very valid voice, as we are the ones with the money. The game will cater to us eventually. You'll see. The money always wins.

That would be true if this were a cash shop game, sure.  But it's not.  $15-$20/month isn't that tough to come up with.  This is coming from a college kid who is currently unemployed.

And it is what it is.  The casuals will destroy the gaming industry because of money.  Does anyone remember when games were actually challenging?  Now developers make games that are meant to be beaten easily.  If you created a game that was too hard, it was a failure as a company.  Now there are games that are being sold for 60 bucks that have under 30 hours of gameplay in it.  Mass Effect is one of them, great game by the way... but I beat it in less than two weeks.  28 hours.  There is no middle ground on the travel topic.  It's either instant or not.  If you like to play, fine.  Travel for 10 minutes or so and do what you can do.  Video games are catered to high schoolers.  These are people with a lot of time.  It should always be that way.  Grown ups are supposed to 'Grow Up'.  Sure we can play, but we shouldn't expect anything to be given to us.  Play on the weekends, get an hour or two less of sleep a night.  But, don't assume that you should be pampered just because you don't have enough time to put in the effort.

Just watch and see. I have been playing MMO's since Shadowbane. The "Casual" gamers, which I consider myself (just hopefully not a bitchy one) will always win out. They usually outnumber the hardcore. I have seen so many changes in so many games to cater to casual gamers it would make you poop your pants. Trust me, I'm not right about much, but I'm on point here.

I agree. I am a casual gamer by force, not by choice. If I didn't have a baby or a wife I would kick my boss in the throat and leave and sit in my underwar.....nah, fuck that, I would sit around nekkid playing all day. It's just not in the cards...lol.

Seriously, what was the point of that post? One day you'll understand that maybe after a hard days work you might want to play for 30 mins - 1 hour to relax and wind down. Life doesn't end after you have a family.

then a mmo might not be for u.. i mean, mmo is a world... u use alot of time in it.. u build up a char, u are the char. u need to feel u are in a big world. i understand some peeps dont have alot of time, but then i would say, id u dont have time for it, for a mmo... then maybe, its not the best place to play?

Nope; then the kind of MMO that you like might not for be wolfpackee, but there are many people who want am MMO which caters to people who have limited playtime on any one day.

So.. who does this game want to appeal to? People with hours of free time, or people without that . Who brings in the money, and which demographic are they looking for.

    That simple.

Couldn't agree more. This fellow needs to grow up.

In fact, if he has all these free hours to play, one wonders who is the person really having everything on a silver platter.

This does not bespeak of someone contributing much to society.

But what is with all the dads wanting to play MMOGs? I don't understand. And just to play 30 mins a day, do you really need an MMOG? You can just play one of the hundreds of great console games around, and let us no-lifers have a llife in a virtual world

The best travel experience I've ever had was in EQ. Hopping on the boat from continent to continent was so sweet.   I loved the aspect of the game where you were going to destinations for certain reasons and it forced you to take time to explore all the content instead of zipping past content using a gryphon, a portal, or whatever. Character ports were available but you had to pay for it rather than just run up to a spire and wait 5 min. Maybe I love the original EQ model and the time sinc because it forced you to be apart of the world rather than zip around and not become immersed.

    Did someone say.... flying mount?

Did someone also say.... water travel?

Im just making this up, there isnt really any proof other than some screenshots than CAN be interpreted into what you want, and in my case I think that before is a flying mount and this here are player controlled ships.

    *dreams on*

EDIT: This pic also looks as if he just landed on his ship: http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/war/us/media/images/screenshots/0307_SS_013.jpg

OH god I so hope they have ships...

I confess, I'm weak, I like easy travel options.  My first MMO was Lineage 1, and we had these things called blessed teleport scrolls, and with them we could instantly transport to any of the 30 bookmarks we set in the world. (we had to visit the location first).  This is still the best idea ever that I've never seen in another game, not even L2.

I used to play DAOC when it was old school. Few teleporters, we rode horses everywhere, some rides could be 20 minutes, and I'd read books while I waited.

Then the FFA PVP server was released, and in order to make it work properly (and keep you from dying like a dog outside of every major city) they added a number of teleporters to different parts of the world.  This cut down travel time immensely and became so popular they eventually expanded it to their normal servers and added even more to the current game worlds.

So yes, while I understand peoples need for immersion, I remember one thing I hated about Vanguard (I left before they changed it) was the damn long travel times.  I remember getting group invites and realized that it would take me 30 minutes to reach them.  On several occasions my group broke up before I got there.

And travel to another continent, forget it...I only did it once or twice.

Character ports were available but you had to pay for it rather than just run up to a spire and wait 5 min. Maybe I love the original EQ model and the time sinc because it forced you to be apart of the world rather than zip around and not become immersed.
Me too.. it was so real.. waiting for the boat and all. I will remember forever a trip I did as an ogre to the other side of the world, having to cross Qeynos through the catacumbs, just to fish a special kind to make an armor. It took me about 3 days and it was just amazing. Ah those days are gone. Now daddies have to play to! and do it in 3 minutes!

Jeez I wasnt asking for instant travel..........

All Im saying  is once the quest distances start getting longer it would be nice to have a horse. I dont see why you cant get your first mount within the first 20 levels. It doesnt have to be super fast just faster than walking. Dont give me this crap about how you all LOVED to walk everywhere in EQ. I asked for a SOW from every shaman I ran into and so did you. Nobody wanted to walk across the plains of karana at regular speed period.

Just give people the option. If you want to walk everywhere for 30 minutes at a time go ahead but they shouldnt force everyone to endure that kind of thing for the sake of a few who have lots of time on their hands to waste.

It has been confirmed that mounts will be included at launch.

    So mounts? Yes.

I have heard interviews talking about Dwarven trains and Chaos portals.

So instant travel? Possibly, but obviously only between your realms territories of interest.
