If you would check xfire.com you will see the free mmorpg Silkroad standing in the Top 10 most played online games. Mostly it's positioned on the 10th place.

Silkroad is a free2play game. It used to lag alot but now they made a Silkroad Europe => No Lag. If you don't like grinding you shouldn't try Silkroad, at the start the grinding is ok but when you get a little bit higher in level you will have to grind alot. The reason people play this game so much is the fact they have an intresting trade-system. You got Traders, Defenders of the traders and the thiefs. Traders have to trade good and defenders got to protect them(logical), but the thiefes have to try to steal the tradegoods of the traders.

Guild Wars is not free to play, lol image
If you want to access all the content, you're gonna have to spend like $30+$30+$40+$30 = $130. That's not free.
Just because it does not have a subscription system doesn't mean it's free.

    Waiting for: GW2

There are NO good f2p games. Every time you log into one you are destroying gaming just a little bit more. until one day you are going to be playing Super Ultimate Pepsi challenge MMO Sponsored by Milky Way, Gatorade, and GM.

You will boot up your F2P game, and get 234982734982347 text message spam on your phone (agency anyone) In game pop up windows delivering all the "Content" (read; advertising) you could ever need to purchase your next fat making food, and a tiny 128x128px box that will be your play area surrounded by flashing ads that only cost a dollar a day each to make go away.

You the f2p gamer WILL destroy the gaming world. Thanks for that btw.

"In the world I see -- you're stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You will wear leather clothes that last you the rest of your life. You will climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower. You will see tiny figures pounding corn and laying-strips of venison on the empty car pool lane of the ruins of a superhighway."

Lick Here you could be one of the lucky 10!!!

F2P games are fine. If they were that bad people just wouldn't play them. But then again think about how much we pay to watch TV commercials.

WTF are you talking about?  F2P games will not send you text messages and they will not destroy the gaming world.  There are good F2P games like Cabal which just came out,  Perfect World, Mentin2, Swords of the new World, just to name a few.  All are very playable and fun games.  I've played many P2P games that are riddled with problems, bots and PKer.  Get a grip F2P games aren't going anywhere.  Some people like P2P, some people like F2P, some people play both.

I liked PW too, even with the grind, but it got just way too laggy to play.  Every game with a player storefront (feature where the player sets up a booth to sell stuff) seems to have this problem.  That system encourages people to keep their toon constantly logged in to sell stuff, or to make alt mule accounts to be constantly logged in and selling their loot.  It greatly increases the number of people who are logged into the game server at any given time and makes moving about the social hubs where most people gather a slideshow from all the lag.

It was a cool feature but just not practical in practice.

So far I'm liking Mabinogi.  It has a grind but it doesn't feel so much like one and has a great deal of customization for how you build your character.  Plus no player booths.

I agree about PW, thats why I'm waiting for the international or US version to come out.  I played the game for a while and had the lag issues, plus there were a few other issues I had.

Mabinogi I played just for a short time, now the beta is over.  Looks interesting, I can't wait for Mabinogi Heroes so come out, I think that'll be a great game.
