I have heared the people of Funcom bragging about allmost everything, except mob AI.
But since they know that even most sociall people solo 50% of the time, its very important to make this soling experience as good as possible. For me the solution to this problem is Mob AI... Intelligent mobs posing a challenge. ((Thast intelligent humanoids... beast can just be beasts as allways))
So did we hear anything about the mob AI in solo area's ?
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

I havent heard anything about it. So i will add that in TR i liked the fact that the AI was a bit more intelligent and actually attacked you before you attacked it, along with them kicking you back away from him and what not. Hopefully AoC will take a bit from all games that have hints of good AI.
We don't have a great deal of info on AI I'm afraid. They've mentioned NPC group tactics, ambushes, running to get help, etc. But we haven't seen this in action yet. What has been confirmed is that mobs will shift their defenses to match your attack patterns.
No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

Mob AI will have the illusion of blending in with its environment... By pathing..to cut down trees, start fires, and seemingly randon patrols around the outskirts of camps etc.(as in most new mmo's)
The fighing system will allow for the AI to block your melee attacks with a blocking system(which doesnt seem very good yet).
That is all I can recall hearing about AI. Im sure someone else will have more for you soon.

I believe this video will be of help: http://www.gamespot.com/video/927504/6183430/age-of-conan-hyborian-adventures-official-movie-6
Monsters and Mob A.I behaviour, purposes, hunting monsters, monsters hunting monsters etc etc
Thanks for that video link Avery. I have an account at Gamespot and I guess I never got around to looking at their videos for AoC. I think I'll do that now, lol.

that was a great video, thanks avery!
i have to agree great vid avery. this game looks sooo sick
Yea that video was insightful to how they want to go about implementing things, I think it was overlooked from the title that gamespot put on it as it wasnt released on many other websites.
Great video, very insightfull. After having experienced Ryzom's mob AI I just can't stand static mob's anymore. And this one seems to be another step up. So kuddos to the guys if they can live up to the promise.
This marks another innovative idea that Funcom are adding to Age of Conan.
With all these interesting and well thought out ideas they are adding I just hope they can pull them all off, because the hype with this game at the moment is high, and from my own personal prospective Im getting excited about this IP and the fun I will have in it.
It will be a change to have some intelligent AI that works in a 'human-esqe' way and reacts to what you do... you shouldnt be able to run willy nilly into a camp of creatures and know you will kill them all just because your a 'hero' of the game.
If Conan makes you take one step back and think about your approach and organise your group to assualt even the smallest of encampments in the game then this is a step forward in my opinion.
Oh and the more I see those finisher moves, the more I think... holy mother of!
I have still to see a finisher where you throw your sword and impale someone, but I bet there is one in there somewhere.
Anyway I digress, Mob AI from what that video showed is looking promising and I look forward to the challenge of combatting it.
Oh and thanks for all your content Avery, I havent been an avid poster here for a while but I do read all your stuff
