Do you remember when you were little and you had that one toy on top of your Christmas wish list? ... you know the one. The one that if received would change your destiny! Yes, the ultimate gift. But then your friend tried to tell you that their was no Santa Claus? That he was just a myth, something the adults made up to kill the hope of all children around the world. But, then ... Christmas morning ... as you're filled with doubt and hope ... to your surprise ... you find fate knocking on your door! You say to yourself Yes, santa is real, I hold the prooof in my hands!! Well Merry Christmas to all of us on May 20th because Santa is real!! We will hold the proof in our hands on the eve of the 20th of May 2008. Mark my words ... you will not be disappointed ... IT"S TIME TO BELIEVE!!

Hehe... Im not too hyped about AoC personally, seems like a really nice game nevertheless... a guy I know in the beta says its wonderful.

Nice message m8. Vanguard destroyed the dream for me (VG is a decent game now, at the moment it's my game of choice). I too felt like the child on christmas morning ripping the wrapping of the box, only to discover the game I've been waiting for, getting excited about for the last 3 years was a game of broken promises.
I've promised myself I would not allow another game's hype overtake me and so far I have kept my promise, but it has been hard looking at vids and the features of AoC without letting the hype bandwagon take me along. To steel myself I just have to remember the feelings I recieved when I realized there's no Santa Claus.
Not having a powerhouse computer.
Not exhilarated about clicking right and left following a lousy icon.

Getting hyped about a game is generally bad.
When it comes out and if it's good, I'm going to play it. If not, I won't shed a tear, I'm enjoying myself somewhere else at this point in time.
I wish them good luck but at the same time I don't overly care if it never comes out.

The OP seems to be getting wrapped up in the hype. I hope the game is good, but at this point, there's no way in heck I'm putting all my eggs in one basket again. If AoC isn't good, I have WAR and TCOS to fall back on, and maybe even AION or Stargate Worlds if those are released this year.

St. Nichlas is christian. But the story with the guy in winter and with cristmas tress is much older here in europe. Guy with beard and trees is rather like a druid story and it mixed up with christs birth.

Santa Claus is based on the christian saint St Nicholas. He is the protector of sailors. He was greatly worshiped and still is in most christian countries in the mediterenian sea. Some dutch and german sailors started coming to the mediterenian to trade goods and found out about saint Nicholas. They seemed to like the idea of a saint looking over their shoulder and brought the tradition of the saint back to Germany/Holland.
Now in german there is no name Nicholas (i think) the italian and greek name Nicholas is the equivalent of Claus. Hence where he got his name from. The tradition of this saint crossed the atlantic ocean along with dutch and german sailors and was adopted by americans as well.
After that coca-cola and marketing took over the saint and turned him into the fat guy wearing red furry clothes etc etc.
So to sum it up Santa Claus is in fact a christian saint in his core. Of course the only thing these two "saints" have in common is the tradition of giving away gifts....

1st St. Nichlas is coming on 6th december. And he is not coming himself, but sends his menial Ruprecht. Ruprecht is a tough and scary guy. He checks your records from last year and if you have been good you get a present. Usually sweets. If you have been bad he is giving you his birch. So better be good.
Once you got your sweets or a hurting butt, Nicholas job is done. On 23-26 december the christ child is coming and bringing presents. The big ones like bicicles and new gaming rigs and stuff. And no birch

Of course I believe in Santa. I also believe that DF will release before the end of the year. And that SOE is going to open a bank of PRE-CU SWG servers this summer. In fact, I'll believe almost anything.
AOC might release this May, lets just hope it doesn't suck.

YES, it will, WITHOUT A DOUBT, launch on May 20th. As to if it will be truly innovative, and the most awesome MMO experience ... well ... look for the signs!!
Judging from the latest Advertising and Marketing moves Funcom has made, i believe that they are truly planning on releasing AoC on 20th of May.
So yes i believe we will have Christmas in May.
