Worried about the combat, can someone help me, please?

A few concerns about combat:

1) How latency will change the combat experience? I am not on USA, my ping is somewhat around 250-300 on mostly MMOs, this game is on real-time and I felt the latency even on turn-based games on Net against better latency players, I am pretty scared of this real-time combat against better connection players... Cant forget of SWG and their ´you are too far from the target´ when I tried to shoot something in front of me, or the contrary, I couldnt even see the one hitting me, because to the client side, the mob was far away, but in realitty he was close.... It easily can totally destroy a game like SWG, then on a real-time combat like AoC...

2) how the lolcopters will feel about this game? It will be their heaven?

The second question is a bit broad, because I am a MMO player on the 30´s, and I do not like smashing buttons games, CS kind and games which heavily need your reflex instead your strategic thinking...

    1. You should be fine. It's not latency that affects MMOs as is packet loss.

    2. You mean jumping around like a mad cat? Or mashing buttons?

    1. Good to know... but I also suffer from packet loss, here and there :(

2- Both, specially the lolcopter (running like crazy around, jumping like a frog and attacking you at same time, circling you, but thats only an example, what I mean is this style of gaming, less strategic, more based on joystick ability).

    1. Dont you think that when the game releases they will have both US and EU servers? Its just not practical for testing to have more than one server.

    2. They already stated that when the game progresses most of the damage comes from combo's, lolcoptering doesnt work then, you will need to actively engage in combat with combo's and spells.

1-There are EU servers if thats a better option for you latency wise, but they have planned for players with slower connections and added a hidden que to help out with combat. Im not sure how it works but thats what they have said.

2-Thats a universal issue with any mmo. My advice is just to wait and see. Go to the rp-pvp server, its ffa there and Im sure the rp crowd is going to make short work of any of those player types.

Your last question is something you are just going to have to see. I can say that I dont think its as twitch based as CS, but you have to be the judge for yourself.

Why is everybody so worried about latency when there are lot of people playing online FPS? or does this latency not matter on the fps?

thats the problem... I cant play FPS on a server based on US or EU... On a FPS, the 0.2s delay is certain dead. I can tell you for I have tried to play FPS abroad the world (servers in different places), and never was able to play it. I could only play when it was on my own country, than it was ok (I do suck on FPS, add the problem of latency/packet loss, it makes impossible to me to play, even VERY GOOD FPers of my country just dont touch servers outside our country... anything more than 150 ping, they say, makes the FPS impossible to play).

I played fps, and another game that needs quick reaction (like gw and its interruptions) during "ages" and if you dont "need" to be elitist (for me are just games) its ok, still playing gw and its interruptions and thinks they work fine, why you will have some problem with a little "movement"?

Major lag will be really a problem, but in wich game it isnt? if we are talking about skills that needs 1 second to cast, and you can interrupt them, taking in account your reflexes, rarely, are better than 0.5 and is working fine... why you have any problem with a dinamic combat?

Btw, I understand you, but I have the idea/feeling that this may be no problem...

I hope you are right, in fact, I am betting on it... AoC is, IMHO, the life-savior of MMOs... thats why I am a bit worried about it.
