Is there any Sandbox game i should give a try?

anthonneranthonner Member Posts: 15

Everyone want a game where you can go and do almost everything that you want to

No level grinding, only Skill Upgrade !

I'v played a lot of mmorpg and the best game ever was pre-cu stwg

Games played:EQ1,EQ2,STWG,WOW,EVE,LOTR,DAoC,DaL,TR,

Im looking for something different thats look like the old sandbox game

Anyone know any game released or not that i should give a try?

I haven't tried it yet, but I hear Pirates of the Burning Sea is sandbox.

    Hope that helps.

swg and eve are the only sandbox mmo's i know of, the next closest i would say would be pirates of the burning sea (not true sandbox) but im not a fan of any of the 3. although i still havent tried the pirate mmo yet.

Pre CU SWG was also my favorite.

I am in EVE now and enjoying it.

The upcoming MMO I would suggest you most want to look for is Fallen Earth

Classless characters free to be whatever you want in a sanbox mmo with very well done factions.

It's resembles a Madmax type setting.

Crafting is big here also. Crafters will have it good here.

Go check out their forums they have some informative question of the week segments there.

Fallen earth Looks like dark and light before it was released without all the publicity lol

Just hope it will be a lot better than that.

The OP asked for a sandbox game, how can anyone say that POTBS is one, I have never played a game that everytime you turn your toon around you hit a instance. Does some people here actually know what a sandbox game is?

  • ShadowhearthShadowhearth Member Posts: 174

well, of you looking for some good old times, when you actually could be whoever you whant in game ( ultima online ) are over.

All mmos now are wow samples, wheres combat is in first plan, and crafting only done, when you are bored of combat.

The only perfect sandbox game thats left is UO, and its nerfed to wow level now anyway ( well moust of it)

So your second choise would be only EVE online. But yeah i know, its space ship sim... but that the best you can get for sandbox effect.

Darkfall is coming, maybe coming, who knows, and that will be bigest sandbox mmo ever created. Player biuld towns, wars between towns, towns can be captured, or burned to grounds. craftsmanship and so on and so on.

Aoc will be wow on anablocis, ofc if it will not hit face in to mud on release, like VG did, and now trying to recover little by little.

War... well war going to be WoW battlegrounds... on anabolics,  "teddybearcare" system...

I am in same boots as you m8, but there is nothing in market with sandbox tag on it, just wow type games there.

Right now, there is no game that is a true sandbox.

However, give it ten years time and your prayers will be answered. I will say no more than that...

...You had me on the edge of getting banned.

<Mod edit> OP, Wurm Online is a good game, if you can get a decent community. Join the Dwarf Fortress boys! http://www.bay12games.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=000112&p=1
    Either that or UO.

I tried Wurm a few day and i realy like the basic idea of the game. This game is fun. But they need to Fix a lot of bug and fix a lot of Player control, i mean the way we walk or move into the world. Sound are not very interesting also. The tutorial are cheap and almost nothing to tell us we need to talk to the guide to realy be able to play the game. But after a few hour trying few things we understand more how the game work. Im gonna stay and play again. Blizzard need to buy this idea and make a real game

BTW Wurm Look like  A real sandbox game like i asked!

Didnt have time for Voyage century yet...

  • MarleVVLLMarleVVLL Member UncommonPosts: 907

Yeah, I fully agree with you. It was a 'hobby' that turned into a game. There are things that need to be improved, but if you join a village, then it gets super fun. If you want and if you like Wurm, PM me: Mik

I'm new to the game and I notice the graphic flaws and lack of animations, but I love how its so sandboxed. I just joined an awesome village and we are all working together to expand our docks, make gaurd towers around our base, improve our mine, and expand our roads.

    Blessings,

    MMO migrant.

Oh do i have the game for you, its a sci-fi sandbox mmo , its not out yet, but it looks really at the moment.

The game is called Earth Rise , heres a link : www.play-earthrise.com.

    Heres some info:

    Publisher: Masthead Studios

    Developer: Masthead Studios

    Current status: Development

    Launch date: 2009

    Game overview:

In the aftermath of the Third World War, mankind has managed to survive and build a new society: the prosperous city of Sal Vitas. Cloning, nanotechnology and quantum engineering are part of a new reality. Thanks to these technological advances, the human species has become immortal; each individual’s consciousness is stored in a data vault, ready to be uploaded into a cloned body as necessary. New energy sources have been discovered. There is a unified government that takes good care of those citizens who abide by its strict laws. Paradise, it appears, might really have come to Earth, and the people have embraced it.

But not everything is as perfect as it appears. By exercising full control over the cloning process, Sal Vitas' government decides who will live and who will not, playing the role of God on Earth. Insurgent forces have accused the city's rulers of crimes against humanity. Armed factions fight for resources and power within the new system. And from the waves of discontent, a rebellion has fomented and formed a shadow government: Noir.

Featuring a unique skill-based advancement system and player-driven economy, as well as extensive, meaningful player-vs.-player combat, Earthrise gives you innumerable choices to forge your destiny. Whether you're a noble soldier in the raging conflict between the Utopia and the rebellion, a criminal hiding from the law or a world-renowned engineer whose power extends into intricate trade and politics, your actions will echo throughout the game world.

    Here are the features:

What players can expect to find in Earthrise:

A unique post-apocalyptic setting where the cloned remnants of mankind battle to survive and rebuild. Yet while humanity may have evolved, human nature remains as treacherous as ever…

Highly customizable characters with over 100 different skills, abilities, and tactics. No artificial "class" restrictions get in the way of making the character you want.

Fast-paced action combat featuring dynamic targeting, customizable power armor, huge mechanized exoskeletons, and hundreds of high-tech weapons.

Sophisticated Player versus Player (PvP) mechanics that let you fight for the established order, join the revolutionary underground, or carve your own bloody path as an independent criminal.

Territorial conquest and defense that matters. In your domain, you create your own rules – or let anarchy reign.

Character progression that keeps you advancing in your career even when you’re not logged in.

An advanced market-based economy with in-game supply and demand based on player activities.

Deep crafting mechanics that let you design and manufacture unique items from customizable blueprints and raw resources.

^^ That game won't come out for a while and I haven learned to not get my hopes up.

Anyway, if you are still looking, I suggest a little less traditional game than your usual, Vendetta-Online . I suggest reading the tutorials and everything first to see if it is right but if you do end up joining, it takes very little to get started and is quite fun with the PvP and other things you can do, just a suggestion.
