Need a non-leveling/Grinding Game

Hi,

I don't wanna play a game that requires getting lvl 70 and reputation, etc...like WoW, or RS, EQ...etc...

Just a game that I can pay $10-$15 to log on and kill crap. Something like SC, or COD4, etc... any ideas? Thanks

I've tried Eve. I liked the whole concept...except....it taking 15 real life days to build something. I would love eve if it wasn't based on real time or ticks/turns but what you could do I guess.

Team Fortress 2 looks good, but for $30.00. Pretty spendy for not knowing how a game works, or how good it is. I don't understand what game owners problems are for not putting out free trials.

<Wait....knows....because if the person doesn't like the game, then they're stuck with it....(just a little rant)

    Checking out Entropia :)- Thanks

PE is good, yeah, but I would remind people that break-even in that game is still hard to do, not impossible, but hard.

Just get Orange Box, you get 5 games for one good price and it comes with Team Fortress 2.

Don't hold your breath on Darkfall...even if it does come out its probalby going to be a dog.

How much is expected to invest for a first timer like me? A few hundred bucks or somethign?

Uru has no grind at all due to being all knowledge based. Puzzle game and all.

Guild Wars has some grind, but very very little compared to pretty much all others in it's category. Lowest level cap I've ever seen.

Yes, I seen the Orange Box. Seems like a really good deal for 5 games. Still looking, that seems to be in the lead. Thanks!

In the MMORPG world I find CoX to be not bad as far as leveling goes.  I have fun along the way.

I tried PE and Second Life. Not a fan. I wouldn't mind figuring out how to make some real nice income from second life, but it's too scattered and all that. Seems you need to have much experience in computer programming and graphics, all that to make houses and stuff to sell to others.

    Checking CoX thx

I think just about every MMORPG ever released required level grinding.  Well, maybe not Planetside, it allowed you to level up skills and ranks, but they didn't really make a difference.  Your best bet is probably Planetside, or you can hold your breath waiting for Darkfall like the rest of us.

If it's the combat you're interested in, then either Planetside or Savage 2, maybe Guild Wars at a push, nothing else offers what you want.

If it's not the combat and you want other stuff, then you won't find it without levels if you don't like Second "porn" Life or Eve.

the weird thing is, that all games seem to have some sort of upgrade/increase going on.

BF2, COD4, whichever you take, the more you play, kill, survive longer, etc. you get XP and/or increase your rank, get better weapons, unlock levels, etc. etc.

Even if Eve is level less, you still need to increase your skills which takes time, although not combat kills.

So, except for puzzle games, or single player games, in the strictest sense, your out of luck....

Back to Orange Box - get it. Portal alone is worth the money! Really fun, although not multiplayer. But it doesn't matter. Then you can take TF2 as the shooting alternative, when you feel like it :D
