Sadly i can't give my opinion here, because i am still under NDA. All i can say is that i agree with Avery on most things.

How about the NDA?
Tought you where under the NDA?

I wasn't under NDA for the community event, could ask questions can answers report back etc. So my Likes/Dislikes are based on what I saw there, time played, and also from officially released media
I agree mostly with what you've said Avery, so I'll try to add my own twist or cover the ones you haven't mentioned. Dislike / Turned off by:
Lack of manual aiming for spells and bows Lack of manual blocking Linear progression (as apposed to sandbox) Level system (as apposed to skill based) System requirements (even making them as low/high as Oblivion is going to turn away a lot of people) Monthly fee (I'd rather it be like AO or Shadowbane where it's F2P, but has advertising)
(For the most part my dislikes are impossible to change at this stage of the game, or with regards to the monthly fee will be mean less money for Funcom. They aren't game ending for me-- just a disappointment.)
Appealing / Like
They are doing something DIFFERENT with the combat. It's not revolutionary, but it is evolutionary in a positive direction. Mounted combat inspired by Mount and Blade. (The closer to your inspiration the better!) Siege warfare. It is a total blast in Shadowbane. And it's not just the PvP- the guild politics surrounding it is very intriguing. Voice overs for some quests. Will this be the first MMO where I actually enjoy doing some quests? I hope so. Tiered PvP arena. Whenever I get bored of the quest grind, at least there's something fun to do! Mercenary system (Funcom, there is epic win in this idea. Do not slash it!)
There will be manual aiming, it's all talked about in the Ranger discussion. Manual aiming gives you further range and is necessary to increase damage in certain situations. For instance auto-targetting might not give you enough range to hit your opponent from high up, and you will have to aim manually. The bonus is shooting down upon an oponent from a height increases damage.
There is no real Linearity to levelling. You're free to do what you like to get to where you want to go. You can PvP to you maximum level as far as i know, it will be slower though you will get there in the end. There's no obligation to follow a story or grind NPCs.
The level system is the only sensible option. You level up and get skill points, you then follow a skill tree to customize your character. Being a lower level in PvP will offer you few disadvantages as your level gets automatically upgraded to the highest level in that bracket. The downside is you wont have any skills that you have not yet learned from that bracket, so the players who are a genuinel higher level do kep some form of advantage.
As for the rest of the worries i do share most of them, especially that of the games system requirements.
EDIT: Though I'm perfectly happy with P2P. I don't like F2P or Cash Stores. P2P is the only fair way a game should be ran imo.
Like most people, it is the combat that has got me interested. I however, only play casters. At the moment I play DDO for its combat and playing a caster is amazing. I can aim my ray spells, cone spells etc quite easily. I also like the fact that these spells can also be dodged. So, for me, magic combat will have to be at least as good as DDO's.
After reading a post or two on here, I am shocked that melee can't shield block???????? Seems odd, especially as it is something you can do in DDO (not only that but you can attack with your shield also).
The game does sound great and I am definitely interested but it is magic combat and combat in general that will decide if I play or not.
You must not leave until you free Arlos and have gathered your party safely in this hallway.
