I know I'm starting a lot of threads but I'm very busy later today and I gotta get started early. Is Asheron's call like Runescape? How is it's crafting/combat. I hear there aren't many people playing nowadays.

It's an OLD game..
With some pretty unique gameplay..in my opinion.
Not really anything like runescape though and it's been so long I don't remember anything about the crafting..
Combat is pretty fun though, I remember going into dungeons and just taking on tons of mobs.
There are two kinds of people in this world. People who pick their nose.. and liars.
Its hardly unique... but it is fun for a while and definitely an alternative to WoW.
I'm not sure what you mean by "hardly unique" but that isn't really true.
OP - it doesn't have a traditional crafting system in the sense that you slap sh*t together to make something. AC has a random loot generator for drops. You spend a ton of time "salvaging" materials from said loot and using the materials to improve a good piece of loot you find. Its pretty complex and time consuming and prone to failure, destroying everything but you can make some really good weapons and armor. In fact the best in the game. The quality of your salvage is based on your skill level. Adding is based on another skill (tinkering I believe)
The characters, although they have levels, you spend your XP on improving individual skills. You can totally customize your skills. You can make your toon however you want. Tired of melee? Pick up a casting skill.
Combat is Line of sight meaning if someone / something shoots a fireball at you, you can move out of the way like a shooter. Its also positional. Striking from an unshielded side or rear brings more damage. Oh and you can jump out of the way of attacks. I know that would appeal to a large portion of PvPers.
Quest are very good and involve a lot of puzzles, lock picking, riddles and jumping over assorted acid / lava filled pits and traps if you are into that sort of thing.
The world is gigantic and seamless.
Item drop on death. Not sure if thats good or bad BUT you need to do corpse runs if you die. There are ways around that.
I think there are more then 600 - 700 dungeons, most with attached quest.
No elves / dwarves / orcs or trolls, totally original fantasy world with some really funky, deep and twisted lore.
Has housing but its older and hook based.
Has something like 8 years of monthly content updates.
Its is very unique and unlike 95% of the MMOs out there. Graphics / UI are sorely out-dated, community is small, tracking quest is a pain with no journal and if you go on the PvP server be ready to die instantly lol. Its open PvP with looting.
Good stuff all around if you don't mind the graphics.
You might get super-pissed at me for saying this....but....it sounds like Runescape.
I wouldn't know, never played it or even looked at it.
just stick to world of warcraft
asherons call is for the pvper type, not the carebear kind
it actually takes skill to kill someone in combat
Chuckles......
LOL, nice username compared to your post. You might flame me for it, but yeah I feel that the PvP in WoW is sorely lacking, I really liked Runescape. You could have pures(twinks) and you would lose all your items. Once lost all my money on my birthday, but it was hella fun :P
I played it for 3-1/2 years and left mostly because of the third party programs and AC2.AC was 1 of only 2 that I ever played that had an actual community, not sure about now, been a while.
For 3 years it was a lot of fun, never got bored and..it is the only game I have ever played for more than a month and never get a maxed char, not saying I couldn't have, just never did,and played a lot

left for the same reason, a macro fest, botting fest, pyramid scheme cesspool it turned into. third party programs destroyed the game, only the rabid loyalists survive.i remember going into the depths in the olthoi lair, only to see tens of bots at any one time running their scripts from columns in the pools of acid killing olthoi from range, fully protected and carrying tens of thousands of rounds of ammo, to be assembled by script macro when needed, sad.
can you smell that?!!...............there is nothing quite like it.....................the smell of troll in the morning............i love that smell.

That is so sad,I have very fond memories of AC..Remember the first high level spell I learned..Took 30k and almost 4 hours to learn..for 1 spell,But..man was it worth it,also remember the first player made portal that I saw,,and thinking..WTH was that.
I remember the first time I figured out how to associate spell words to components (at least I thought so) and then actually made my first portal - my guildies just started venturing to Obsidian Plains and I set my portal there. What a gold mine that turned out to be - my lvl 36 mage was raking in the dought openning portal to OP in a busy town for small donation
FUNCOM - putting the FUN in disFUNctional !
