I know there's been a lot of talk about levelling without repeating quests, and the detractors don't seem aware of the possible exp gained from the exploration zones. SOOOO, I'm reposting this information from the DDO forums (thanks to Conejo!), it also doesn't include the new Vale...

p.s. With the Vale, it's close to 1 million exp that can be garnered without ever doing a quest
Wow I haven't seen most of this game. Good info!
I dunno about seering heights being 2-7. I took my lvl 4 paladin in there and got butchered at the entrance. I never went back haha.

Promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate.
What's cool about those explorer areas though, you could take in a party that ranged from 2nd to 7th level and they all get max exp still, no powerlevelling penalties!!!
Before someone asks, to get these experiance points it will require multiple runs into each specific area. The cool thing is, you can solo all of the areas although you're going to want some assistence since the rares might kick your butt.
While I cannot say for certain on the lower areas, but the Orchard and Vale both have mobs that spawn in huge waves. Running to these pre-set locations can ramp up a lot of kill-counts while generating a chest since they are considered a Rare spawn.
Some of good loot is pulled out of the Orchard's and Vale's rare boss chests. I've seen quite a few vorpals, smitters and banishers (Oh My!) pulled out of Vale alone.
Two thing I wish I had known when starting DDO last month are this list and about the Muckbane. Very helpful thanks for posting. One question though: when a level range is listed as 1-4, is 4 the highest level that can enter the quest? I'm close to level 5 and haven't nearly completed Waterworks yet and I don't want to miss anything.
You can still enter the explorer areas at a higher level, but you get zero'd out on exp
Nice list Vincenz.
Some simple math shows that slayer total XP = 603,020 and total mobs = 31,550 which means you kill 31,550 mobs for 19.1 XP per mob. If you just count the highest level Orchard, it's a whopping 22.5 XP per mob.
I have better ways to spend my DDO time than grinding 22 XP per mob. I think they need to double the slayer XP, perhaps even triple it at the higher levels to make it worthwhile.
Honestly, I never chase the slayers. The only one Im' even close to is Sorrowdusk. Just doing the explorer and uniques nets some pretty nice exp though, without the grind.
Aye, and when you kill 20 in less then 60 seconds that's almost 440exp per minute or 26.4k per hour!
When you can run quests that give upwards of 20k exp while taking less then 45 minutes all this becomes moot.
Vale is the higest outdoor area.

Yeah I know Vale is the highest... more correctly I meant the highest that Vincenz listed in the OP.
While 26400 xp per hour sounds great on paper I seriously doubt any party can sustain a rate of 20 kpm for any longish period of time. The severe nerfing of AoE's makes this kind of thing quite a grind.
Could you please educate me how AoE (Area of effect) was nerfed?
I *only* play a Sorcerer and would LOVE to hear how my spells aren't supposed to be functioning - Wall of Fire, FireBall, Cone of Cold, Waves of Exhaustion, Hypnotize, Cloudkill, GlitterDust, Hypnotic Patter, Mindfog, Wall of Fog, Acid Fog and Web all work wonderfully withint certain limitations; ie, casting fire on web or using Cloudkill on undead. Maybe you are refering to a Greatsword or other two-hander as AoE?
Keep in mind that if a caster has the Heighten metamagic feat their first level spells will have a saving throw much higher.

Here take look at the Duration of Cloudkill here: http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/spellsC.html#cloudkill
Now try it in game. Extend it even.
For an even bigger laugh here is web: http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/spellsTtoZ.html#web
All persistant AoE spells were massively nerfed about 9 months ago. Casters used to be totally absolutely riddikulusly overpowered. Now they are only a moderately overpowered. Ah, the good ol' days.
High level casters now favor finger of death and stone to flesh due to the AoE nerf.

Again, you are completely incorrect on the effectiveness of "AoE" spells - even though you only reference 2.
Yes, the duration was reduced to help with the "pacing" of gameplay while removing certain "tactics" which were not part of the intended game design; users always out think developers. You can also no longer cast Cloudkill through walls and closed doors, which is a good thing. It was not a "nerf" since the spells usage have remained entirely intact - Two minute duration is more then long enough since most mods rarely last longer then 20 seconds.
The current durations on Cloudkill and Web are perfect. I continue to use cloudkill ALL the time along with many other AoE spells and they all work amazingly well; rarely extended! As a matter of fact, they work so well that it's oftenly commented by others whom I run dungeons with how awesome it is to see a player who know how to use crowd control and AoE effectively.
I have not had Finger of Death nor Phantasmal Killer for almost 6-8 months. there's not been a single need for them on my character. (28 point Elven Sorcerer; 204hp, 1845sp)
Flesh To Stone, I expect you meant this spell, which is a great spell with certain uses. It's not an end-all-I-win Button but it does a good job in temporarily locking down a target. Some mobs will save and break so you'll have to chose your targets wisely.
All due respect, you're not the only one who thinks Cloudkill doesn't work. there are quite a few players in game who also think it doesn't work even though they'll admit to not using the spell since it had an insanely high duration which did not affect mob agro. Thankfully those old days of casting cloudkill and waiting for the mod's to die are over - since that particular use was very disruptive to a directed experiance.
If you want somethng valid to critique I'd advise you to join me to see how the spells are actually working rather then continue making false claims. If you're going to gripe about something at least know what you're talking about so you're not being made a fool.
Are these the only 2 AoE spells you can complain about, even though they continue to work while having more use now then every before, or is there something else you'd like to stick your foot in your mouth about?
p.s. what was your previous forum handle that was banned for trolling DDO?
I think you're seeing Ridd attacking where he's not Mind
I've posted back and forth with Ridd lots of times in the past, and I think if I'm reading what he's saying it's not a complaint that they "nerfed" AoE spells...just a statement that since they did, the grind to the highest slayers would take a LONG time.
Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my take
p.s. I know you can count me as someone who was THRILLED when they ended the Solid Fog/Cloudkill spam-a-thon.
mindsplat... um, wow. Please reread what I said and reconsider your reply.
p.s. my forum handle on DDO is Riddikulus as well. I've even posted recently here: http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p=1563137&postcount=4 so no I haven't been banned, not even close to being banned. I'm posting here completely voluntarily.

p.s. my forum handle on DDO is Riddikulus as well. I've even posted recently here: http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p=1563137&postcount=4 so no I haven't been banned, not even close to being banned. I'm posting here completely voluntarily.

I know you and Vincez, along with a few others. Sadly.I saw you posting on EU forums but not last couple times I checked, did codemasters ban you? Sucks man anyways glad you're still able to play. I also go by same handle on DDO forums.

I had a 5 day ban from EU like a month ago, but chose not to go back. Frankly, they have some real tools there. It's kind of scary when a game's forum on MMORPG is one of the more positive compared to the officials LOL!
Thanks Vincenz for posting this!
One question: Is the xp static or does it scale with level [like the dungeons do]?
<p align=center><a target=_blank href=http://www.nodiatis.com/personality.htm><img border=0 src=http://www.nodiatis.com/pub/20.jpg></a></p>
No, it's static. There's no difficulty settings on the zones, nor is there extra bonuses like the dungeons.

The instances are set to a static difficulty yet the EXP scales upwards for each Kill Count Tier.note: 5,000 kills in Vale equal 49,500 exp per type.

More correctly it's static as long as you are within the stated level ranges, otherwise it's zero in either direction.
