in Final Fantasy XI

Seems you are forced to rename ALL of your characters after recovery. You can't keep the names you had.

I had a couple of very obscure names and I was forced to pick new names even though I knew no one else has them.

    Hmm... that is very odd. I don't know why that would be the case and that's the first I've heard of that. Have you asked someone at SE why that is?

    Hope you can get it straightened out.

    That is weird. I recovered a friends character from 3 over three years ago, and didn't have to change his name at all. Must be some sort of error, or there are really people that have those names. You can do a search on POL for the names to see if they come up on your server.
