I don't believe I've ever "bashed" Darkfall. The word I would use is "educate". There's something funny going on with this game, and I think it's wrong that players should get all hyped up for a game that will not (in my opinion) be released.

You mentioned you are not a PK'er. I've got news for you: most of the people who are excited about Darkfall (or who WERE excited about Darkfall) were turned on by the PK element. For a moment, let's step into a fantasy world where Darkfall is actually released. I don't think you will be happy with the game, if you're not into PK. You're looking for a "sandbox" game, not an open PVP game. I suggest you look elsewhere. Surely there are other games that allow you to build cities and craft items.

But based on the developer's track record of repeated failure, I am skeptical that it will ever happen.
Is it that hard to understand why people are frustrated?
They promised beta in 2007, and *again* failed to deliver.
    That is annoying.
They should delete their website and stop jerking everyone around.
They have repeatedly promised to deliver a product on their website, and repeatedly the promise has evaporated.
    Evaporate + Software = Vaporware.
Maybe if you had an IQ over 90 you would get it.

Sorry, quote me the part where they "promised beta" last year?  Thanks.

A game as revolutionary as darkfall-as in the first large scale 'fps' MMO game, would youd think at least have some proper teasers and points of interest for the fans or anyone interested in game design and programming, but instead we see nothing. Videos of characters running around or riding a mount are meaningless without showing any kind of UI or interface. Plus where are all the NPCs and mobs?
The devs can claim that they dont need or want publicity, but to me thats a cop out. You dont spend 6 years on a game, apparently get it to the point of having a full (non inhabited) world and then show nothing for it. Why wouldnt they demo it to the press? Why not put out actual gameplay videos with a UI,ability bar, crafting interface etc in it? I dont buy the "our fans dont need their hand held with previews" line-why the hell not? Theyve supported your game vision for years,in some cases since 2001. Is this some kind of new elitist fad,to refuse any solid info on a game and instead blindly fumble? If the game is running as the devs claim it is,show your fans.
To me thats the reason why so many people say its vapourware. Im sure if they ever show some gameplay footage or get a running demo out there, people would quickly shut up.

The difference between this and other games is that other companies have shown development of their game throughout the process, giving interviews and previews, teasers and of course had alphas, closed betas and in some cases open beta.
I gave up on darkfall at least 3 years ago..This is no way meant to be a bsah on darkfall or its followers,so put the pitchforks away.

I'm not saying it's ENOUGH that they have this, but, they do have a PvP video that shows the FPS style combat.  They also released a points of interest video last month.  The way I understand it, they are very concerned with theft of ideas.  This is a very valid concern because of Darkfall's niche-type appeal to a smaller market.  The company is concerned that they may lose some of the more unique aspects of the game to another company with more money that will steal the ideas and capitalize on them.  Darkfall will be the most leaked game ever, imo (if/when beta happens).

They didnt promise beta 2007 but some seems to read the Darkfall developers info like when devil reads the bible.

They had an internal target for beta which isnt the same as a promised beta. No dates or promises were ever mentioned. And the fanbois were perfectly well updated on game status during 2007.

The chance for beta and release is 99% id say, and risk for vapor is 1%. Just get into the game, the company and the developers extremely faith to their project youd also see these figures. They havent wiped any features, game is 99% as they informed us from start. There isnt that many companies which so stubbornly sticks to there game plan like Darkfall developers do. And taking their sweet time developing it before beta and release is only something good in my eyes. Why work so many years and release a buggy not workable game?

And youre wrong about that most players waiting for Darkfall is PK:s. Its PvP:ers in all forms, RPG, PvE and crafters. Adventurers and PK:s. FPS interested players. People interested in diplomacy and politics. The list can be made long but PK:s is just a small portion of the Darkfall interested fans.

... which is exactly one of the reasons I believe Darkfall is too good to be true. You can't be all things to all people.

Well it has  been confirmed true.

But people wont belive it until they play it so meh

I try to avoid all of there threads. Not so much point in arguing with people that already have made up their minds.

For me it comes down to this, DF have a long developing history, small indie company and i doubt that  DF trolls could do it better themselves.

Missed beta dates, yes they have! So?  Maybe the game wasnt ready? I think the devs want to get it released more then the DF trolls want.

To litle information, well two updates every months, tons of screens and a spm,e videos. Why would they wanna show more? Just to convince trolls on a forum? A smart company dont show their product before its done (except films and games). And it doesnt matter how many videos some companys shows of a crappy game (example a WoW clone)...it doesnt change anything.

about 90% of the people that write negative posts about Darkfall will be fanboys the same day beta hits.
