Tome of Knowledge Video

This is from an EA Mythic Fansite event someone video taped it.  Great Great Quality and extremely informative.

Its everything you need to know about why the Tome of Knowledge is awsome....PvE & even RvR wise.

I personally can't wait to see what sort of things I can unlock by being my usual curiously natured explorer!

No, she's one if not one of the main dev of The Tome of Knowledge.

EDIT: errr.. she actually says that at the beginning, presenting herself and her colleague.

But she does praise Gamespot a lot, I've seen her on a diferent vid (from Gamespot.com actually) explaining the ToK in some game con.

Hmm someday someone will make a thread about all the WAR abreviations.

Nice vid Elvenangel (better than that crapy vid of that Marauder I've posted some days ago).

    Cheers!

2nd EDIT: oh and it shows a flying mount, sorry guys if you saw it before but that was the first time I remember seeing a toon on one. I'm talking about "seeing" not "reading" about it.

The tome of knowledge seems quite nice, it combines some features and puts everything into one. The most ideas behind isn't very innovative but old stuff can also be good, and probably is. I hope it will feature more exploration stuff rather than "Kill 1000 Squigs" stuff; killing squigs isn't really exploring, it's farming.

I'm really excited for the Tome of Knowledge, it reminds me alot of the book from the Lord of the Rings Online game except way way way more detailed.  In away its like your character's personal journal a record of his life which is way cool.   Just think you could still be playing that game in a year and your friend goes hey look at this page...and your like whoa!  So you end up realizing you missed something somewhere and off you go on an adventure to look for it (or cheat alot of people cheat but hey thats RPG's for you).

The Tome for me is a really enriching idea I'm all into game lore & PvE, of course with this game i'm really keen to get into RvR too so it'll be nice to know how well I'm doing.

Everquest 2 has something similiar to this but its only available on their website and you have to pay extra for it the bums!  Plus you dont' get anything tangible for it like trophies or titles.   I look forward to figuring out ways to get strange titles lol.

lol I give my friends answers if they ask but i dont' volunteer it.  As for the abundant can someone tel me the answer spammers in general chat I just ignore them unless it appears they've sincerely been trying to complete something.   These days it seems most people who ask haven't even tried they just logged on ask for answers so they can buzz through it...without actually experiencing the thrill of learning to do it themselves.

I won't ever be rude to that type of player but I never give them help either.  Its just bad form and sloppy play not to try first.  I think I very rarely asked for help in EQ1 and I was completely new to quests & large 3d worlds (having played UO & Gemstone 3 first).  But when I did I was polite in relating that I'd been trying for a while to figure out how to get back up to Kelethin (damn rail less platforms!) or that the system was new...it was nice when people obviously saw you trying in group and offered help.   Alot of that spirit is dead these days due to newbie abuse (newbies to MMOs that abuse our generosity with rudeness).

Of course...I'd never help the enemy..they're on their own if they're an enemy race rofl :)

There's really nothing wrong with that.  Alot of the people who run / work with sites like that or magazines used to be in the industry, are heavily involved in the industry, or they're using it as a stepping stone to get deeper into the industry.

You still have to have the talent & creds to get your foot in the door as a dev or a designer.

Infact for designers being involved with stuff like that is a really huge plus on your resume.

See she did used to work for Gamespot!

Bah..sorry then, I mean it, seriously ... you won! You Won!!!...  Woo Woo!

Honestly, did you even bother to look for that, proving that she actually worked there, so what my friend?

Don't answer, it's a rethoric question and as to be true to what I'm saying, I'm answering without even checking the link (whatever it is) just to show you It doesn't move me at all.

Anyway moving on to something far more interesting!

I really enjoy the feeling of a persistent world that a pen and paper RPG could give to me (got even married once!). Thing is this time we got graphical MMO Rpg - just great, it is, we all know that!

The point is: the possibility you get, the chance you get, to unravel and discover new things, go to place you thought wouldn't be wise for your level or worth going, etc.. the list goes on.. to actually live that and, yes, keep track of it (like the Tome of Knowledge) and compare with your friends, that's just the one more amazement of MMORPGs, and it's there, in WAR!

Ok guys, I'm not saying anything new and most of the post here already cover (in better ways imho) what I've just said but I really wanted to tag along and give my opinion and contribution to the wonders of MMOs.

Cheers to all of you guys!

EDIT: thanks again Elvenangel, that clarify things and we should leave it there. I'm glad people like her and so many devs made their way to be wherever they are - thumps up to them!

I follow this exact approach when playing MMO's. I mostly just ignore the main channels, and talk to people I come across out in the wilds. The big draw back is when something like this comes back to bite you in the butt. For example, I tried LoTRO a while back, and I quit it before the free trial even ended. Reason being, I explored all of the starting dwarf and elf areas, then went over to the hobbit and human areas. What I was searching for was an area to level up past 16, since I was getting tired of all of the cyan and green quests. I spent the last two days of my trial period just trying to find an area, and every time I asked (after I explored, died, went back to town) where I should go, there was no answer. Granted, I did find several high level areas, ranging from 25-50, I never did find a good spot to quest at level 16. In that one sense, it's nice to have a website to indicate a general direction of travel since there was a total lack of in-game advice.

    LOL

Said that I was not nerdy and also not cool...

    bah... lol

  • sirslayerrsirslayerr Member Posts: 128

Ironically, I'm like almost asleep, and while I scored high on the nerd tests, I can't figure out the coding process to display it properly. :-(

  • GrömGröm Member Posts: 303

Me neither.. but then if you don't know how to do the codings... hmm then it probably means you're not as nerdy as it says... that's what you want to say, right?

And then it probably just says you're an inteligent person...

I'm not into science but into History and Philosophy.. so I guess I got most of it all wrong due to that factor.. lol

  • sirslayerrsirslayerr Member Posts: 128

eh, it's just taking remembering BBCode instead of HTML. :-)

Maybe its just my headache then... anyway... I couldnt see it to the end. I love the Tome of Knowledge, but she just reminded me of a "band-camp"-girl.
