Does DDO have any tradeskills/crafting yet ??
Also, from a RP perspective, have they changed it so you can actually sit at a table in a tavern and drink an ale or do you still have to sit on the floor and drink "murky water"?

Anybody ??
Please.
It has crafting in a sense. I would have replied to you earlier but I don't know much about the new crafting table. They do have this table in the marketplace where you place items into it and it will yield a reward. There formulas to yield certain stuff. I just am no expert at all because I have not looked into it. I believe tier 1 stuff requires a lot of work to get the ingredients for stuff to make. From what I understand and could be totally wrong, crafting is still a work in progress. Meaning that it was just released in Mod 6 and will probably have LOTS of changes.
And as far as I know you cannot still pull up a chair in a pub and relax. I wish they would. So you still have to sit on and drink the murky water.
In DDOCAST this week they discuss the crafting system. About 45 min or so into the podcast. Check it out at www.ddocast.com episode 56.
Hope that helps a little bit.

Thanks for responding, I will check it out.
I can't really figure out the whole tavern thing. I mean, they have to know that if we are playing a medieval rp game, we would probably expect to be able to have an ale at a tavern......and even sit at the bar or a table while we do so.
It's funny actually, there was a fairly well known player named Merlask who organized a protest about not being able to sit in chairs a while back.
The best part? Merlask is now Tolero, Turbine and DDO employee
So hopefully she's squeezing some folks about getting this added soon.

And I thought that I was the only one with this pet peeve.
Anybody that ever played PnP DnD knows that a signifficant element to the game took place in taverns. Many an adventure started by a shadowy figure joining your party over a few ales.....and we were not sitting on the floor.
They need to get over the "use of alcohol" taboo too. EQ2, WoW, Lotro all have ale/beer which adds to the immersion effect in game.
Thanks for the link .
The current "crafting" isn't anything more then a Dynamic Collectible Reward System. I would hardly call it crafting, but you *can* make some awesomly custom items.
The RollPlay tools in DDO are still VERY weak. Poor Emotes and other actions which support Roll Playing are almost entirely lacking. This is one area which has the possibility of having the largest impact upon game subscription since many players can find hours upon hours Rollplaying with just the use of /emotes. Proper animations would be like adding 2 modules worth of content in terms of "player content".
These omissions are DDO's greatest weakness for the time being.
