An invitation to a (free-to-play) MMORPG story arc and roleplay effort

Hi all,

haven't posted here in ages. There's something now I need to share though.

For the (free-to-play*) MMORPG Anarchy Online, I'm running a roleplay project. It has two parts:

- a programme for new players that provides in-character guidance. It helps roleplayers come to grips with the gameplay features, allows them to develop their character concepts and get's them involved in the roleplay scene and the community. A fourth aim for the future is PvP and cause some havoc in the Notum Wars.

- a story arc. The story arc revolves around a clan trader and a particulary motley crewmember, Dyedooshka and Zdrastvuite. They're two entertaining if oddball characters and are catalysts to get things happening. The real subject are the newcomers to Rubi-Ka and veteran roleplayers though. This story arc takes form of a journal I write on the events we go through in-game.

I started this effort for the roleplay community of the upcoming Funcom titel Age of Conan. The idea was for a bunch of us to get to know each other in a MMO environment while we waited on Age of Conan to release. I called this effort "Hundred Days" since it was 100 days until AoC's release date at the time (it has since been postponed.) There was allot of enthousiasm, unfortunately few have found the time to actually play. Still, a few did and together with members from the Anarchy Online roleplay community we've had allot of fun so far.

I'm having a blast playing AO again since I left four years ago. It was my first MMORPG and had a memorable experience playing it. Setting up this effort has been very entertaining too and hence I look forward to continueing this effort. To explain why, I'll admit I happen to have my eyes set on achiving a position in an events department of any MMO's customer service. I believe that's where allot of oppertunity and potential for game innovation lies in a post-WoW world. Consider roleplay as user-created content and you'll get what I'm aiming for.

I'm looking for new players to participate in the 'new arrival-program' and invite anyone and everyone to sign up by seeking contact with me on my forums. Regardless of weither you're looking for a MMO to call home or a casual experience, I can recommend this to everybody. Even those new or totally uninterested in roleplay. This'll probably be the best introduction to roleplay if there is any. Why?

Firstly because the Anarchy Online experience on itself is worth it. The atmosphere is very rich and immersing and the gameplay and character progression challanging; you're either a complete gimp or complete pimp depending on how well you play.

The atmosphere and setting together with character development are very central in the programme. Through the role you decide to play in the story arc, you'll explore the planet of Rubi-Ka and personalise your build and strategy. It's intended as a very original and refreshing experience for most, weither you're roleplayer or not.

You'll play an awarded, historic MMORPG. You're guided and get the most out of a game without any demands on your time what-so-ever. You play when you want. In fact, I'll ask you to pace your main character for the sake of the programme ;) The point of this exercise is not grinding your way through the level-threadmill as quickly as possible. The point is to have a memorable game experience.

I'm posting invitations elsewhere as well and I'd like to have a small group started next weekend. We can prepare this week and jump right into the action for those needing thrills on the short-term. This effort will be around for a while to come though so you better bookmark this in case you find yourself looking for something in the future! You can jump in at any time, really.

If you're interested in signing up for the programme, please do a quick sign-up at my forums and send me a PM. And if you have any questions, comments, even criticism, you're of course very welcome too.

* Anarchy Online can be played for free without the booster packs The booster packs are paid for and when you upgrade you'll start paying a monthly fee. The story arc and 'new arrival'-programme is about the original Rubi-Ka experience though, so no booster packs are needed.

A long post it is, and seems some attractive, but it's not easy to write any related story if there is no enough knowledge about it. Let me learn more about it,  maybe I can write some simple ones.
