    intel processors ftw :)

    amd ati gpu ftw :)

Until AMD comes up with a revelation, they will be hemoraging customers for a while. I don't see any new products to unseat Intel/Nvidia as technology leaders anytime soon.

I Kinda like the Nvidia cards more than ATI... considering that ATI is without a flag-highend card right now.... There is some rumors around that the 3870 is good as an 8800GT .. which is highmid...

For me.. sometimes i own an nvidia.. then ati.. then nvidia then ati.. but for now.. nvidia...

For unknown reasons... I always get AMD... lol... maybe is because i have been with AMD for 10 years lol....

ati actually have the most powerful card on the market at this moment in time, the 3870x2 is almost as powerful as 2 8800gtx in sli :)

amd used to have pretty good processor, but inter are just killing them at the moment, with the 4 core processors they have and the soon to come 6 cores :)

    AMD Processor..

    Nvidia card..

That's how my system will always be :)

There are two kinds of people in this world. People who pick their nose.. and liars.

I am about to go that way..... after i see some benchmarks over the net... the only way that ATI can beat nvidia is through X2 card... in other words... 2 ATI beats 1 nvidia... dont take it bad guys.. but when i was in elementary school I and other kid used to fighting against 1 other kid alone.. and we always beat them... (I and the other one vs other guy)

The real question is.. what if nvidia makes X2 cards.... omg....

hmm, the 3870x2 dosent run to its full potential in some games(some games do us the 2 gpu prosessors to its full potential) like in the link you showed me

but in other tests it was faster than the ultra or about the same

the 3870x2 does seem to do much better in begger resalotions than the nvedia cared gtx and ultra :)

Because I DO NOT use ATI video cards. I build and fix computers for a living, and have for about 15 years now. You really do not want to know how many computers I've gotten with videos problems that resulted in an ATI card with faulty driver issues, or uninstall issues or just plain issues. I've owned two ATI cards myself, and both went back for replacements within 6 months.
I know a good number of folks use ATI all the time and have no trouble, one of my closest friends does (though he just built a new computer with an ATI 3850 and guess what? Yep.. the card has problems with certain games he has, and he is always going around about which driver he needs for this or that.) But I don't.
Because you cannot get a decent board these days with AMD processors and nVidia everything else, I am forced to go Intel. So in a month or so I'm building a Q6600 system. Sorry AMD, but I cannot support you if I don't have a choice when it comes to chipset and PCIE slot support companies.

You know what i dont like from Intel... that they suck up 3 or 4 times more bucks from your cash drum but doesnt give you a processor that is 3 or 4 times better than an AMD equivalent.. is just a bit better...

there is always some space for driver improvement... but as I said.. 2 vs 1... what about if nvidia makes a 8800 ultra x2??????

The point is that.. ATI gives this card an x2 of two cores i believe they are.. but the card isnt really 2 times better... based on the benchmanrks the card is just 1.1 time better...

ya amd/ati have much better price vs performance than intel/nvedia

Oh by the way Ignore the Unreal Tournament 3 benchmark.. they used "Shangri La" map.. and that map have some strange performance issues.. already addressed by Midway...

ya, but i was neve ment to be twice as powerful like crossfire and sli is not twice as powerfuul, just gives you 30-40% better performance :)

I was disappointed Tom's didn't have a SLI ultra configuration just for show. The x2 is actually substantially cheaper than the ultra.

AMD may have price on their side, but the current Phenom fiasco isnt going to go over well.

  • elvenangelelvenangel Member Posts: 2,205

Ever since AMD lied about their processor speed years ago I've been hesitant trust them.   I'll be sticking with Intel ........... and I'll always be an Nvidia Supporter!  Considering most games support  Nvidia it just seems like the perfect natural choice.

Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!

Only they cost about $330 for two! You cant beat that lol.
Unless the 9800xx come out before early May that is. :)

hey dude is the 9600GT = 8800 GTX?????

oh by the way about the phenom fiasco.. i know what you mean now... and yeah there was some phenoms with problems... the first quad phenoms.. like the 9200 are indeed horrible....

  • SilverminkSilvermink Member UncommonPosts: 289

Do a search for Phenom TLB errata. A bug in their l3 cache can cause system failures at high demand. The fix causes a 10-20% degredation in preformance. Most users can disable the fix... if they know to. AMD requires Mobo manufacturers to install the patch with the default setting on and no bios setting. To disable it requires a program available from AMD. This applies to the new 9500 and 9600.

The new 9600 GT 512 is equivilent to a 8800 GT 512. The GTS 512 and the GTX are faster.

  • PelagatoPelagato Member UncommonPosts: 673

yeah ic that one.... well i got the 9600 phenom... working well so far. with out any trouble with it...

oh... i was wondering about the 9600gt because... i see they had 64 stream processors compared to the 128 of the 8800 series

  • SilverminkSilvermink Member UncommonPosts: 289

They have less processors, but are clocked higher.
