This game is not fun.
I cannot believe they can even sell this peice of junk. I got it today and I feel so... wow
I run a Windows Vista dell with a Pentium 2 Duo, 3 gigs of ram and a Radeon HD 2600 XT and blah blah etc etc widescreen nice clear LCD - WoW looks beautiful on it, esp when I am out farming and casting all my pretty little spells or in Raids with tons of pretty little spells and smooth like butter - it's a good computer and should run any current MMO easily with max graphics.
I install, goes smooth. Nice.
I crank up the graphics... hmmm, odd, but it could work. Make my character. Sorta nice, dislike the hairstyles a lot actually but it seems promising because you can change other things like facial features and body part sizes. But the system seems clunky.
I am still excited at the end of it. I make a shaman and she has an earthy vibe going on and I am excited to start a new game.
I think seems like a nice adventure game like Oblivion but better and online.

The game is second life but online with orcs and elves. But no, wait! The graphics are WORSE than second life and the lag is MUCH worse.

I do not play VG, I left it bitterly disappointed after a long beta. Our entire guild left a couple months after launch.
Given my bitterness with VG, I still find your post very unfair to VG. If you find WoW beautiful, in the sense that it needs a great PC to display, I wonder how you will find VG worse looking. You might need to figure out how to run it in Vista, I never have Vista. I do know that VG has very acceptable graphics with a decent PC. WoW, on the other hand, has a cleverly designed consistent line of artwork which works well on lower end PCs. But to say ditch VG graphics using WoW, ouch ...
YA right... Wow is the best looking MMO out there, people that slag it are just bitter.
Wow has serious issues, other than raiding and PvP I don't enjoy wow anymore. I used to love leveling and adventure in the worlds Blizzard created, but I think for me it is close to reaching it's end raiding aside. Blizzard sure puts out one amazing game and I am looking forward to Starcraft 2 and the next MMO.
But Vanguard? I'll go back to Oblivion thank you. Vanguard is a joke.
It reminds me of Second Life but a twisted version with orcs. The graphics are that bad, anyone who says otherwise is either blind or a troll.

I just returned to VG after six months. I had played from beta for a bout six months. So much has been improved since i left. The group I've been playing with has been having a great time. Brotherhoods work quite well. But listen, to say VG's graphics are crap is a lie. I have a modest rig and i can play with most everything turned on. Compared to most other games VG is beautiful. EQ2 might come close. But WOW? WOW may have some high points but graphics are not one of them.
I returned to Vanguard a month or two ago after playing in beta and shortly after launch.
While the devs have made some improvements, overall graphic fluidity is still a problem. There are stutters, pauses, etc etc. Those playing VG and accepting these anomolies, more power to you. The game does have its strong points.
To me, in the end, the glaring performance issues combined with the overall lack of interest in the game was the clincher for me.
That being said, I've been bouncing around from MMO to MMO for quite a while now. None of the major players really appeal to me much anymore. I've played them all, and they all are remarkably similar.
I agree, VG still has problems. That said, its unfair to dismiss VG, saying that the graphics is inferior to WoW.

i have been able to see VG on my computer and the graphics were beautiful when turned up i just couldnt do alot. Then i got to see it on a new build with 768 graphic card and 6 gigs of ram and this post makes me laugh till it hurts. I don't like the game= everything else is better view its simply amusing. And comparing them to second life lol, the engine on that is lower than EQ graphicly. Why dont you post some screenshots up side by side, wait nm that would just prove your just flaming a game you dont like. WoW has decent very cartoony and very Simple graphics, 1 texture with 1 solid mesh over it that an art student can make in about 2 hours, its been done already , while VG uses seperate models for cloths and body with Multiple textures And meshes along with shaders. The result is the shiny more real looking graphic that the wowkids don't seem to like. So what you are Really saying is i like cartoonish graphics not more realistic ones

LoRTO is the best looking MMO on the market. Lineage and Guild Wars and WoW are also far superior.
WoW is stunning with a good computer and some actual talent. Everyone loves to hate the top dog, but subs don't lie.
My only wish was that this game looked like the banner above, which it truly does NOT.
Think I will pick up LoTRO again for my adventure game on days I don't raid.

Wow graphics superior? What are you on? LSD? Because that is the only drug that would make WoW look even remotly stunning graphically. Boxshaped, with big and clunky (not to mention an extremly bright and overpowering contrast of colors). I love WoW, but one of the big things I hate about that game are the graphics. They are so flat and shitty, texturing is crap, detail is crap, AA/AF is crap. But the game runs smooth, very smooth. VG was beautiful on my computer, the sky was amazing, the modeling was a bit wonky and the view distance was almost breathtaking at times. Not to mention the extreme water reflections.
First you say WoW is the best looking game out there, and then you go at LoTRO. I'm suprised you mentioned L2 because of a veteran of 3 years, Lineage 2 doesnt touch what VG can do. Thanks.
For pretty, I would chose LoTRO. I've always found WOW on the cartoonish side. All are playable as they are pretty much the same. I guess it all depends on what is pleasing to look at for you personally.

Hmm I think you read me wrong. I agreed with you. My first reply to the OP was based on an assumption that the OP wanted a reasoned out discussion, and I do not believe that VG graphics is weak at all. I did not say that line you quoted about blind or troll, that is the OP's handwriting.

No I am not the OP. I was trying to raise my objections to the OP, and got killed by the cross fire. I am a casualty of friendly fire. heheh :-)
It's your problem OP that you did not find options and video settings to increase the quality from the lowest to at least medium. The graphics on balanced settings look much better than any other MMORPG out there. THe distant view is amazing, and the detail of trees, ground texture is just amazing.
You say it was laggy? Maybe there's something wrong with your connection? Lags are only caused by bad connection. If you meant spikes then probably some part of your hardware is f>d up. VG runs perfectly smooth on my Vista 64 bit on highest settings.

The OP seems to be techincally challenged and can not express herself in a universal manner that others understand.
The problem the OP has is that VG does not run as smooth as WoW and hence she assumes the graphics are bad.
To the OP, the graphics in VG are one of the best on the market at the moment, if it is jerky when you play then reduce graphical detail, upgrade your computer or stop playing, coming on here and saying the graphics look bad just makes you look silly tbh.
My question is...how does this game at all compare to Second Life? Second life is a user created sex world....so far I seen nothing of the sort in VG.
As for overall graphics of VG...prolly along the tops on the current MMORPGs out there. One of the reasons I left WoW was cause of the crappy graphics...everything was so ugly. Vanguard is very well done. To say a game is crap cause your PC can't handle the graphics on a decent setting is really talking dumb. Especially when you say WoW is better lookin

I'm confused. Did the op play another game and think she was playing Vanguard. The comparison that the graphics in WOW are superior is laughable. I'm playing Vanguard on a slightly outdated gaming rig and I'm still finding the graphics superior with the settings on balanced. If you want to flame Vanguard the only thing imo that is legit is it launched to early and it was quite buggy, But even so that argument is getting old and tired.

WOW graphics are like flipping through an old comic book.
VG is like flipping through your favorite issue of Playboy. Every now and then you actually get a page not stuck together with some good pictures.

any way, game playrd ok on my old rig, which had an ati x1300 pro256mb 2 gb of ram and a pentium d 2.8ghz processor, you must be playing it on some old ass rig.
