Interesting to say the least lol. Here would be my list of demands.
Immediate termination of John Smedley
Original development team to be re-hired
Updated graphics and physics engines
return to the pre-holocron means of acquiring jedi
removal of half-hearted tie-ins to the inferior and downright sad excuses for movies that make up the prequel
Addition of Hoth as a pvp planet
return to the original 32 career paths and pseudo skill based system of leveling characters
return of battle fatigue
removal of "epic" dropped items in order to put the focus back on the characters providing characters with items, resources etc
6 months of free playtime to any returning vet once the roll backs and changes were implemented, free game time to all during the transition phase.
But who are we kidding here? I for one, even with all of the above changes will not play any game that is coupled with SOE. Pirates of the Burning Sea is, imo, a very good game. One that I had tested for well over a year. However, I will not, under any circumstances, give 1 red cent to the scum sucking m-f'ers that make up SOE. The people there, at SOE, would not know the truth if it bit them on the backside, they haven't a shred of moral decency, and are entirely unethical in the way that they do business and the way that they treat their customer base. Every single individual that still pays to play their trite, bug-ridden, filth infested mmo's get exactly what they deserve every time they log in. In addition, every single person that pays SOE to play their games tells them that it is ok to be a gelatainous slime ball and are in every way possible equally responsible for the absolute fly infested dung hill that is SOE.
The why does it send me so many 'Please, please, pleeeeeeeeease come back' veteran free trial emails?
Owned, I think.
Because YOU can not let go of SOE? ....else >

It's much easyer to blame them for sending stuff you somehow are asking for yourself, you have to find that line in your own mail you get from them as my link won't work for others...afcourse.
To the OP: i don't get it ...really, so many people in this section saying the won't touch another SOE product or be involved with SOE...and yet we see topics like this come up asking what must SOE do to get you back. Try and read a couply of the more constructive post some of the disgrunted vets have made and you'll see it's not really about the game and the change's but it's HOW it was changed
Wrong. I am angry for BOTH things. Of course HOW they changed it was outrageous, wrong, and possibly criminal.
But the ultimate reason why I no longer play and why they lost 200K+ players and failed to get any new ones is WHAT they changed, and HOW the game is post NGE. Quite simply, I loved the game as it was. They took it and turned it into a mirror image of what once was, took away choice, invalidated achievements, and told me to swallow it or else.
Fortunately 90%+ of us chose "or else".
To my knowledge we are the ONLY example of Star Wars fans standing up for themselves and refusing to reward a shitty product just for having "Star Wars" stamped on it. Which in and of itself is significant, and should be a DANGER warning that Lucas himself should lose sleep over...
Mine are rather harsh, as I've been too far down the road with SOE to ever come back again, even for classic, without drastic measures being taken so as to restore any chance of trust being restored. Maybe yours are less harsh, or even more harsh, but I'd love to hear them. Note to fanbois: Any attempt to flame or disrupt this thread will be reported. This thread is for those who don't subscribe ONLY. My terms (and I've posted these here before) 1. Smed has to go. Non negotiable. SOE cannot possibly ever be trustworthy again with him at the helm.
2. Jim Ward has to go. Also non negotiable (this one has been met) 3. Cao has to go. Same reasons.
4. Everyone forum permabanned not due to some form of criminal harassment (no, criticizing the NGE is not criminal) gets blanket amnesty.
5. Classic servers are open. Not promised. Open. Then and only then will I even CONSIDER returning. And the deeper I get into EVE and the closer ambulation is to being released, the less I care about classic SWG. Honestly, I think the window has long closed. At this point even a sequel based on Pre-CU that involved Bioware and not SOE would have a hard time winning me back.
Helios also has to go. I know he's already left SOE but he has to be fired from LA where he's currently working on 'The Force Unleashed'. I want him fired - in front of me. He was the guy who publish after publish nerfed Jedi while swearing that this was not policy. Then, at some convention, he admitted it was policy, specifically it was his policy - for example, he was the reason that premium pearls suddenly stopped dropping. A most dishonest person.
I think you are speaking of Julio Tora! TORA!! TORRES!!!, the LEC producer. He is working on the force unleashed, and is why I won't buy that game. The Dork Lord Helias is the lead producer for the DCMMO at SOE, or was as of a few months ago (they go thru Devs there like a revolving door).
If Ward's replacement at LEC takes the company in the right direction, empty suits like Torres will not last long. As for Helias, the DCMMO meat grinder will take care of him, if there ever was a MMO destined for "fail" it's the DCMMO, due to the excessive micromanagement of Smed and other senior managers, because it is the "must be a hit to save the company" game. Indeed, I believe the DCMMO will ultimately get Smed fired as well, since his fingerprints are all over it.
Helios is the lead designer of the DCU project. He's the third or fourth it has had. Rogue_5 is the lead producer of it, number two or three.
The Smed isn't going anywhere if he doesn't want to. SOE's income and losses are insignificant to Sony Pictures as a whole, and the Smed's superiors don't likely give much thought to what goes on at SOE. SOE's yearly revenue and expenses are smaller than many film production budgets Sony Pictures are involved in funding. The Smed is a microscopic organism in a large pond.
If its a good game I'll play it. If it is affiliated with SOE I wait and see the condition its in when its released. If it unfinished and needs some things changed...then I'll pass regardless if its a good game. POTBS for example i think is a great little game, but its a tad incomplete and needs a few changes..so Im not playing because all trust goes out the window when SOE is involved. Thats just me though, cant say if its the right thing or if Im missing out on fun. Wont be a sucker again thats for sure.
See you in the dream.. The Fires from heaven, now as cold as ice. A rapid ascension tolls a heavy price.
Bare minimum: PreCU loaded on fresh virgin servers. Better yet: The CURB loaded up on fresh virgin servers.
The CURB would have been interesting.
I was a CURB sandbox tester...of course, we only got to see some design documents, and discuss them on the sandbox board. We were never given a chance to test the CURB, and as it was, we found out the CU was on TC the same time everyone else did...yet another example of SOE's chronic mendacity.
CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.
1. Replace the game engine with something like Planetside's engine, including full bore, first person shooter combat (influenced, of course, by character statistics)
2. Include combat vehicles and aircraft
3. Directly tie-in space to the ground game
4. Add some decent quests/missions
5. NO JEDI
6. No "creature handlers"
7. No fighting billions of chickens or other farm/zoo life
8. New fresh servers
So basically, make a whole new game.

My demands are much simpler. Mainly because I'm not as butt-hurt over the whole thing as everyone else is. My one demand is: Make the NGE more like preCU. That's it, just emulate some of the things we lost and I'd be happy enough. Why? Because that alone, sadly, would make this one of the most unique MMORPGs out there right now.

Considering the amount of time its taken them to do what they have since the NGE. I would say that option is 2-3 years away from acceptable if they dropped all other development and started today. They've wasted too much time nor do they seem to understand how to bring back things that make the new version great the same way they made pre-cu great. Or be allowed to anyway.
See you in the dream.. The Fires from heaven, now as cold as ice. A rapid ascension tolls a heavy price.
If Pre-Cu were to come back, or if there was to be a future game based on Pre-CU, I'd definitely want to see the CURB implimented. Everything I read about it from the few who ever got access to it, the CURB basically fixed almost everything that was flawed in the original game, without DESTROYING what the original game was about like the CU did to a large degree, and the NGE did to a complete degree.
As long as SOE has anything to do with SWG in any capacity, I'll never come back! That being said if the game were to go to a different company they would have to:
A: Listen to the player base!
B: Roll back to Pre-CU
C: Fix the bugs
Fix the professions, what SOE said they were gonna do befor the NGE
E: Add more content as in missions, and what ever
F: Redo Rage of the Wookiees so it is like the rest of the worlds open and large
G: Add more Professions, I did like the Spy from the NGE
A formal apology from SOE and LA for the losses experienced by players due to the NGE. A formal apology to all players for knowlingly misleading them regarding the Trials of Obi Wan expansion and the future direction of the game.
Management personnel associated with the plan to mislead the players regarding the NGE, and the plan to replace one target audience with another need to go. These actions were highly unethical and in my jurisdiction the misleading marketting re. the ToOW fits the definition of fraud.
Along with the apology for the losses and deception associated with the NGE, classic (pre-cu) servers would have to be opened. I would expect the least bug-ridden, most highly populated version of the pre-cu to be implemented.
Long-standing bugs and issues related to npc's spawning in objects, npc's killing you through walls and floors, entering instances dismantling your group, and group waypoint arrows not working correctly would have to be fixed, for starters--with ongoing bugs and issues being addressed on a continual basis.
A legally binding statement that no further removal of professions or changes to core game mechanics on current or classic servers would be implemented. Fix and polish what you have started with; don't tear it apart and try to make something new WHILE THE GAME IS LIVE.
That'd be my list to lead me to even consider playing something (anything) made by SOE at this point. I throw that in because my friend left SWG after getting royally burned to go play Vanguard. Someone was posting all over that this would be the closest game to pre-cu, and would be a nice home for SWG veterans. Unfortunately, she believed them, and got burned again. So, until I see evidence of all the above, SOE isn't welcome in my house.
Anyone that returns for any reason deserves just as much scorn as those that stayed. Its called principles. How about people learn to stick to them?
Well, my terms basically requires SOE to prostrate themselves to us in addition to ALREADY having Pre-CU up and running... So it's not as if I would violate ANY principle to go back under that circumstance.
There is nothing SOE could do to get me to comeback.
But if you want a set of circumstances listed to happen that would make me without a doubt come back to SWG it would be simple.
SOE gets SWG ripped from them so fast that by the time the building stopped spinning it would be 2050. Then give the game to a company that would go CU or Pre-CU with SWG and would actually fix the damn bugs that have been in the freaking game since forever.
That would make expansions that weren't steaming piles of crap with sad excuses for movie tie-ins.
That would actually add content not just in expansion packs but just normally for free. Like for instance, a PLANET!
That would slowly but surely move the timeline of the game.
But since none of this will ever happen and SWG will simply sit there and fester like a boil on the ass of the MMO world I won't be coming back.
well, for me, I'll never come back either, but, if there was a set criteria, I'd say, a Full Apology from both LA, and SOE, a total firing of Smedly and the top crew who was instrumental in the fiascoe, and, to top it all off, every vet gamer who came back would get a 1 full year free game access pass to SWG.
Afterall, they took our money and then kicked us in the teeth, it only seems fair that they lose more than thier share of cash revenue due to some jerk who didn't care about the gamers in the first place
I have no terms, I don't care to go back regardless of what they do. SWG died and can not be revived. Even if they did create a 'classic' server, it wouldn't be the same. The magic is gone, mickey has gone to bed.

Indeed, most of the vets would groan and be dissatisfied with a classic swg anyway, all they can remember is nostalgia for the good times, and any full time return to it would make them start demanding patches and fixes and updates and maintenance and etc etc etc which soe would not be able to afford to do with the classic server subscription numbers they'd get (couple hundred perhaps, if not much less.. the majority of mmo players want wow-clones. Crappy boring wowclones. )
I'd go back for a while if they expanded on the space part of it though, to not just be a set of boxes one can fly around in plus a pvp battlefield, but a large environment where one can say, put up outposts and war with each other and the like, akin to EvE's 0.0 space and social dynamics. AKA EvE with swg's twitch space system. Or.. Jumpgate: Evolution.
oh, don't get me wrong, I'd love another game LIKE SWG preCUNGE, I just won't go back to SWG. I think you would get 3-5k people to go back though, but they wouldn't last long as the community wouldn't be there anymore.
That is what I mean by the magic has died. You can revive a game, you can't revive a world.

Depends on which publish they returned to. Pub 8 was a different game than pub 8.1 due to the nerfs to the mistakes in the prior patch. the entire way the game was played would change with one nerf. It would be difficult to pick the right one. but dont underestimate a Sandbox game's ability to grow...thats what they do. .if left alone. See Eve.

1. Get rid of Smedley and replace him with someone who listens to players.
2. Bring back Pre-CU and restart every server. deleting all characters and starting anew.
3. Make the wallpaper for the main swg.station.sony.com page a picture of Smedley with a dunce cap on.
