Is this MMO still going strong?

Im thinking about leaving wow for EQ2. Im wondering if the populations are still high and if it is noob friendly. I havent played this game since its release a few years back.

Also I will be playing on a laptop

AMD Turion 64x2

Nvidia 7150M

2G RAM

I dont care about high settings, but will I at least be able to run medium quality?

Everquest II is still going strong.  It's probably more popular today than at it's launch.  However EQ2 is an old game and is suffering from a new influx of gamers who are wondering why it doesn't have some of the things brand new MMO's do.

All in all EQ2 is easy to get in to, fun to play and has loads of depth.  I recommend getting it.

To answer your questions yes and yes. However EQ2 is a lot different then WoW so come to it with a tabula rasa (Clean Slate). I have been playing EQ2 since release and it is still going strong. You should be able to play at medium settings with a few setting higher. Just turn off enviromental shadows, I do not think they look good anyway.

I agree on this...they need a new trial in the RoK location...and let them start as Sarnak or Faydark as a Fae...

    Best of both worlds...hehe

Yeah, the trial is just soooo boring.

The fae trial is even worse!

There are two kinds of people in this world. People who pick their nose.. and liars.

Is the trial different then the regular game? I thought the trial was the in one of the starting areas. I have started a toon in all of the starting areas and I had a great time in all of them.

The trial is the game in extremely easy mode. There's also a few things you can't do in the trial that you can do in the real game itself. Its not bad so much as not a good representation of the actual game.

Incidentally, when you dl the trial, don't think you can only play fae. Your first character has to be fae, after that the choice is yours. Just delete the first character and play whatever you want.
