I love EQ2. But I hate empty servers. That's it. The best mmo in the world is nothing if nobody plays it. I can't find a group on an european server. SO I play WoW where I make thousands of characters because the endgame content sucks. Maybe I'll try USA-Servers ... maybe ...
We have people from Sweden and Finland in our guild on Antonia Bayle..
This is probably the best server for EU players finding empty servers...
Although I no longer play EQ 2, I have to agree that is is the best on the market currently. The sheer amount of content and friendly gameplay combined with the variety of things you can spend your time with puts the game ahead of others.
EQ2 is the best game to my wife and I becuase of the selection of races and classes. You can pretty much make a new toon any time you want and it will never be the same as before. That is why my wife likes it b/c she is a altaholic lol. I played WoW for a couple years but, despite it being a good game, you got like 8 races and eight claseses total to pick from. While EQ2 has 18 races and geez.. 24 clases?.
All of these current fantasy based MMOs suck, including EQ2. Seriously, what is so fun about being put into a "world" only to perform wilderness genocide against boring creatures that just stand around and do nothing? My idea of a fantasy MMO is not one that has animals littered about across the land simply because the developers were too stupid and couldn't figure out a better way to provide content.
Who cares if the dungeon is instanced or not? It is just like the outside except now we're taken into an FPS designed dungeon level with narrow corridors and adjoining rooms with creatures and humanoids who do nothing but stand around until they are ready to be attacked.
Mostly all MMOs suck these days because they are nothing more than Disneyland with weapons. Here is your +10 sword of mannequin destruction. Go forth and kill creatures who have no purpose other than to hang around a particular area, die, and then respawn.
Who cares about housing if it is not an integral part of the world? At the very least, this is one of the few things Vanguard got right.
Who cares about questing when really all questing does is try (and horribly fails) at disguising the fact that you're grinding? Putting same half baked storyline on top of a "go kill X orcs" quest is not a quest.
The sad thing is that I'm sure WAR and AoC will follow the same lame formulas. I hate this genre of gaming with a passion yet it is the only genre of gaming I really care to participate in. Can't we have a real player world like in Eve Online? It would be so cool if developers created mostly empty lands and told the players to go out, take over and control the land, build farms and villages, create equipment from gathering resources and make all players totally dependent on each other. As a result, there will be player created content in the form of alliances, wars, politics and cooperation. In Eve, PvPers cannot simply go to NPC #38384 and buy a new ship. They rely on the miners and industrialist to create what they need in order to PvP AND PvE. It doesn't matter how uber you are, you still need to rely on the carebear who never leaves high security space and simply mines all day long. I am so sick of developers thinking they need to provide all the content. I do not like this form of control. Give us the tools like in Eve or Second Life and let us create our own adventures.

So, I am confused...if Fantasy MMO's are so bad...
Why does EvE feel like watching paint dry? Is that your idea of...fun?

Honestly you have got to be the most idiotic person ive seen to date your post is just retarded & your opening statement...well dude, issues m8.
Well they may all "suck" to you, and you got a right to voice your opinion, but to 90% of us here at MMORPG.com, that is what we play. D&D started role playing out. It is fantasy, and it's saga continues.
But there will eventually be good sci-fi games like Stargate and maybe next decade Star Trek.

Currently playing: No MMOs. They all suck.
