I have been reading through the "I miss EQ" threads, and there have been refrences to a possible new progression server. Does anyone have any hard information on this? I would love to come back to EQ for a few months / years if I could start from the very beginning, and not be 9 years behind the curve.
I know the idea of a "classic" server has been pretty much shot down by dev's - but a new, longer time frame progression server seems very feasible(sp?) - Anyhow - please posst if you have any input !

I have no info on this, but a new progression server with hard time limits per expansion on top of the requirements of the previous progression servers (to avoid such a quick content unlock) would be a dream come true for me personally.
I totally agree - I had a great time in games like DAoC - WoW - even currently in LOTRO - but nothing compares to the early everquest experience.
I hope they do something like this - no tutorials, no hints - just throw us in there like they did in '99 and let us figure it out
Six months ago SOE said they'd consider another alternate ruleset server (perhaps progression) after the expansion they were working on was finished. They even created a thread asking for some ideas from players. SOE has said nothing on the topic since then, and I'm pretty sure the expansion rolled out months ago.

In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit
The last comment I remember reading from the developers stated that they were still open to the idea, but had no plans to start a new server at this time.
I find myself checking each and every topic about a new server type in EQ. :P
