I always like to play the least played classes in an MMO, for a sense of relative uniqueness.
There is another thread discussing the merits of the different classes, so I do not want to derail that, but I would love to have a quick numerical scan of what is more or less popular. So, without further ado, please click on the class that initially attracts you most. Thanks!
NB - Sadly, there are only ten slots for a poll, so I pulled a couple of classes together - a bit random, I know, but there you are.

i am gonna play both an Assassin and a Tempest of set.
i have a feeling the Ranger and Assassin (maybe) will be the ones that will be overplayed for PvP. but since PvP takes place in a completely different zone it wont bother me too much (just the nerfs
)
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
I plan on starting as, and staying an Assassin, yes I feel a lot of people will start as them, but I feel once they find out Assassin's are not easy mode like WoW rogues a lot of people will change their minds. But that's just my two cents, we'll see what actually happens.
I havent looked over the classes in a while but if I remember correctly I was leaning towards the Herald of xolti....that transformation looks sweet
I've been leaning towards the ranger, Though i havn't seen too much footage of them in play, They sound pretty fun.My backup/alt, Will most likely be a barbarian.Can't not have at least 1 melee character with such a sweet sounding combat system.
Ah nevermind, can now see theres a limit on poll count.
I want to do ranger mostly because you have to manually aim your bow and draw the arrows back and such. Also as all rangers there will be enough melee action when soloing so I can see some disembodiment. Plus I love RPing rangers.
good to see that tanks and healers are gonna be the least played. *sigh*
personally i see healers as being the least played class as tanking in this game looks sweet (after all Conan was a tank)

Conan technically was a DPS, as barbarians are going to be in AoC, and honestly I think caster DPS will be the least played at launch, because you don't get any visual deaths like cutting off a man's arm with that, and you get to use the innovative new combat style the least.
But I think healers will be more popular in AOC than in other MMORPG's simply because you don't have to sacrafice DPS to be an effective healer, as said in a video interview with the lead designer the healing is heavily based around heal over time healing so that theres time for the healer to do DPS between heals, thats the specific reason they made it that way as stated by him. I think that's why healers will be more popular, maybe not right at launch, but like every game at launch it will start evening out a month or two into its launch.

Probably not surprising that rangers and barbarians are in the lead, followed by assassins, but it is encouraging to see that the rest of the classes are relatively even. (although I suspect that there are probably more templars than guardians out there)
edit: interesting - assassin slipping back in rankings... so really its all looking quite balanced now apart from the two leading classes
My first character is definitely Barbarian. But my second character will be either Priest of Mitra, Necromancer, or Ranger.
I'll start with the Priest but plan on trying out the barbarian and assasin probably all on the first day and go with the one i like best.
although I imagine it takes a while to try them all out, as you don't become your class for several levels...
Would be interesting to see how class choices differ depending on what type of server people are planning to play on.
If anyone wants to create a new poll where we can vote for class choice for both PvP and PvE servers, that would be great...
I dont have the patience to figure out how these polling systems work.
pretty basic as it happens - I would have loved all sorts of sub questions, and then to be able to organise the data in various ways, but no go as far as I can tell
I'll like the supportclasses in games, so I start out with healer. Then I reroll a few times.

I have been doing a LOT of reading about the different classes and pouring over a ton of videos on youtube. From all that, here is what I have to say about it --
I personally am going to play the following:
Tempest of Set - I have heard a lot of good things about this healer / nuker hybrid. People have been saying it has a high fun factor
Demonologist - Most squishy class. Pure nuker. I intend to play this class mainly because I will be leading the raids for my guild. This class has gotten good reviews, but apparently the combat system for casters isnt any different from any other MMO. (I hope spellweaving makes this wrong).
Guardian - Always gotta have a tank alt....
Random comments about classes:
I have heard that the melee classes are absurdly fun, specifically the Conqueror. Other than that, the Priest of Mitra has been getting a lot of hype for being really fun to play and very group friendly.
Lastly, as far as PvP is concerned it looks like Rangers are Hax at the moment. (Surprise surprise....)
I am going to play a Stygian Assassin and maybe an Aquilonian Fighter of some sort but I haven't picked one yet.
First Conquerer(Aquilonian) then a Dark Templar(Cimmerian). My third choice is a Tempest of Set(Stygian, ofcourse) by then I'll want to try the polearm and passout mass heals.

Interesting to see the Tempest of Set is less popular... also, I dont hear many voices in favour of the guardian
I think the tempest of Set will be real popular, expect the Class Interview from TTH to be about TOS coming soon!
I had hoped to play a Disco Robot/Cyborg Ninja. Sent from one possible future to sex up all the fly honeys in order to save his dying race...Or a Tempest of Set, they both kick equal amounts of ass!

I am gonna choose Assassin as my main, because i think it is gonne be very sweet. The idea of sneaking up behind another player and execute a swift surprise attack , is a very appealing thought to me
still haven't completely decided. sigh
I'll be going Guardian, want to be all that I can be for a tank!
I believe there is movement detection or whatever, so I should be able to block some paths.
