It is interesting that they once again blame the players and communication for the failure of the sumuggler update, NOT the work they did or the choices they made. Same as the every other mistake they keep making. bad post mortems coninue to lead to mis diagnosis, and continue to move them in the wrong direction.
Originally posted by salvaje Isn't it funny how they haven't solved that communication problem yet? Despite that being THE problem they keep apologizing for again and again? The communication they NEED to hear is the one that says: Pre-CU or FU. Which is my stance towards them... And that of at least 200K others.
People don't really have a problem with their communication, the problem is with what they actually DO. This is development blaming customer relations -- once again. Good old SOE-style blameshifting.

The problem here is the developers have no sense of direction or long term vision for this game. These days they're just developing copy and paste content. At the same time, they're pulling ideas for things such as profession updates from suggestions made by the forum rats who are obviously mind readers because they think they know exactly what most players want to see in the game.
Is there anyone on this current Dev team who is even qualified to come up with any sort of vision or plan for a MMO? Looking over the rednames that are currently there, all I see are a bunch of noobs to whom this is their FIRST ever job not just in MMO development, but in the gaming industry. The "veteran" devs left (like Toilet Boy) have undistinguished careers and never have held the positions they currently hold before either.
So, basically CTRL+V development is about all they can do. Also, I don't think there is even any push for any sort of long term vision for SWG because there isn't any long term.
Competent management (which right there knocks SOE and LEC out) would at least have to have focus on these long term problems if SWG were a going concern with a long term future:
1. Server merges to consolidate the existing population ("tooo haaard")
2. A replacement for the ageing graphics engine ("tooo haaard")
3. Fixes for fundamental glaring problems, such as deficiencies in the combat engine that allow mobs to aggro and shoot through trees, rocks, buildings, terrain, etc ("tooo haaard")
4. Something that is going to gain them some new subscribers, as the game as it is now is on the verge of going into the red if it isn't already. (stupid schemes like the buddy tokens and the free trials aren't working)
5. If you actually WANT the veterans back (and I believe they don't, they only say this for PR purposes) their objections to the current game need to be addressed. (they avoid stepping on this deadly cobra at all costs)
The fact that they sidestep, avoid, or offer lame excuses whenever those 5 things are brought up tells me that they don't have any sort of plan at all and are simply playing it by ear until they are told to shut it down.
"So while Producer Jake Neri and company believe that, at a basic content level, the Update was a success, they acknowledge a need for better communication. "
WFT? " a need for better communication?" Wasn't this the devs' rallying cry and solemn vow after the NGE fiasco? Do you mean to tell me that over two years later they still are promising "better communication" - in the future??!!

It's just typical management "blame the other guy" tactic.
In fact the communication was fine. It was the update that was poor.

Ever since SWG chopped down the main player base by introducing the NGE, they havn't been able to recover from the weight of the fall. They have been failing for months on end. - Nothing New
Omg lol, that picture shows exactly what SOE has done to itself with their NGE.
All you need to add is the dying animal blaming bystanders for its own stupidity, even though they were all yelling, "for the love of mercy, don't do it."
