I'm thinking of picking up this game, but I'm pretty set in my ways concerning the control scheme for first person shooter style games. I'm pretty reluctant to shell out any money for a game that I can't customize my controls to what I'm used to using... I know what works best for me, and I hate changing my ways.
So what I'm wondering is... can the forward and backword movement keys be remapped to use the left and right mouse buttons? Or are the mouse buttons hard coded for very specific uses?
Thanks

Yes you can reconfigure your buttons. Just go to options then keybinds, and set your desired configuration.
How does that work in a FPS if you are using the buttons to control movement, but the mouse is also controlling panning?
I would find that confusing as anything. BUt hey if it works for you thats fine.
TR doesnt have a click and move system like some games, so you would be left/right clicking to move forward/backward and the a/d keys to move left/right.
I suggest you get a 3 day trial to make sure you can remap the configuration as you desire before buying the game.
Also in case you arent aware the game isnt a true FPS.
- the interface is FPS like with a minimal GUI, targeting reticle, guns , ammo, reloading etc but under the hood its dice rolls,
- there is no dodging and its not at all reflex/twitch based.
- most importantly there is no first person view, its third person with a over the should zoom in option if you click your mouse's scroll wheel.
It's NOT a FPS/shooter that's your first misconception.
Its standard MMO with a different skin. There is no point, aim and shoot in TR.
