From what you know regarding what has been posted what is your ideal group setup? So what is your ideal group of classes. Have at least one tank, one healer, one dps class, and whatever else you want?

I guess that's the beauty of the class setups, most classes can double as other things. Priest of Mitra is a CC as well as a healer, and from what I can tell most of the healer classes double as DPS. I personally would try to get two healer classes, a Priest of Mitra and a Bear Shaman for instance. Since they can both do something other than heal, they wouldn't be a waste of space. One could be the main healer the other could pop a heal-over-time (HoT) on a DPS if they see them getting hit a few times. One tank would make due but if you had something like a Barbarian as a DPS/Off Tank I'm sure that wouldn't hurt either. But you see what I'm saying, a lot of classes can DPS as well as do things like off heal or off tank or CC, etc. Which makes the game a lot more fun for everyone because you don't necessarily have to be stuck with a certain roll for the entire length of the game.
If my memory serves me right, I believe there's 6 people per group.
This is purely speculation, but it will be fun to see how reality matches my prediction after I actually get to play it:
Priest of Mitra
Guardian
Tempest of Set
Bear Shaman
Barbarian
Demonologist
PoM: main healer
ToS and BS: medium DPS/Emergency healers
Guardian: light DPS/Tank
Barbarian and Demonologist: DPS
I just hope all my group members have good computers. This game is not gonna run on WoW specifications.
Maybe you will be set for this game but will most others ?
imma probably be trying this setup if at all possible
Ranger x2 (assuming they do very high dps, also what im going to be)
Demonologist / Hearld of Xolti? (which ever one deals more damage)
Dark templar (since they can heal themselves)
Priest of mitra / Tempest of set? (which ever one heals better )
any high dps class (could even be another ranger )
Priest of Mitra
Bear Shaman
Dark Templar
Guardian
Assasin
Demonologist or Necro
Just a thought.
man I can't believe many people aren't looking at a the conqueror class. Heavy armor, dual wielding and and aura's and shouts to help your party/hinder your enemy. They also have an aura that procs group heals and eventually group rezzes. that seems like it'd be a major plus in groups to me anyways.
Guardian = MT
Barbarian = DPS / OT
Assassin = DPS
Priest of Mitra = Main Healer
Bear Shaman = DPS / HOT
Herald of Xotli = CC / DPS
sure ideally i would want tank/dps/healer but seeing that my mates want to play barbarian and me ranger, i think we'll go for hit and run.lol. maybe it wont be a very bad idea 3 barbarians and a ranger. we'll see how it turns out
I need more vespene gas.
This is how classes start getting thrown into the useless catagory.
The game isnt even out yet and there are discussions about what is the perfect 6 person group.
Yes, it is speculation and gives people a forum to express their opinion. What was your point again?
Come on guys, where is your creativity? How about this, assuming that the Priest of Mitra actually gets some useful CC tools:
1-2 Priest of Mitra
3-4 Demonologists
1 of whatever class has the best mana regen buff
hmm, i think this is the reason why i dont play class/level based MMOs. When someone mentions a "tank", "DPS" or "healer" im out of there.
But you all have fun. Im a bit jealous.
And besides that, we all know from WoW you only need "DPS" characters in your group.
Daarco... come on, where is this aggression stemming from? We're all anticipating the release of this game and a little speculation isn't hurting anything. I'm sorry that you dislike class based MMO's but that is what drives people to create a character. Creating a specific class is to give one's self an identity in this fantasy world and by following up with the development of AoC classes will have multi purposes in a group (not like cookie cutter WoW). Simple discussions on these forums should be "taken with a grain of salt" we're not trying to label one classes to a specific task, we're just brainstorming if you will.

Good point.
Sometimes i just get a depressed by the fact there is NO skill based MMOs around right now. This means im forced to play class/level based MMOs. And sometimes i forget that and believes im in a world were a can choose.
And i have a hard time here. For me a rouge, barbarian, assassin and a guardian, thay are all a warriors. So for me its wery weird that someone else have decided for me what i "should" play.
But now it fel better, i might play AoC : )
