If you choose Artisan Archetype will that be all you can do or will it be another SWG skill tree where you can multi-class?
I hated the way SWG class system was set up so I hope it's not like that, however, I couldnt imagine anyone who would want to pick an artisan if you cannot multi-class. At the branch off it looks really boring. Who would want to sit around making potions all day long and nothing else?
Please explain how this will work.
Thank you

Ok Artisan/Crafting has nothing to do with the main/combat classes.
You can learn every artisan skill there is, it will be like it was in EQ but much better at leats from what i have heard. Say you wanna be a blacksmith you just get all the required tools and resources and you start. you will get skill points in it as you keep crfating harder and harder things... at any point you could start anoth tradeskill and comeback to blacksmithing right where you left off.
Does that answer your question? if not ask mroe specifics.

Ok so if you pick Artisan then that is all that you can be. That definately answers my question thank you. Now for my next question.
The way I read the class system as it is explained on the EQII website is that you start a with a commoner. Then at lvl 3 you can pick a base Archetype. Lets use Artisan. Now at lvl 10 i can branch off into builder or scholar. Lets go Scholar. I build my ass off and now Im lvl 20. I can be a Sage or a Alchemist now. Lets go Sage.
I am now Lvl 20 Sage and I look forward to the next 80 lvls of my life crafting the basic Artisan stuff, The Scholar stuff, and now Sage stuff. Sage stuff consists of making Spells and Scrolls.
Is it just me or does that seem ridiculous? Once I make lvl 20 I will look forward to the next 80 lvls (that get harder each lvl) crafting Scrolls?? One word BORING!!!!! Im sure Sony will make it so some spells can only be obtained by a Sage and honestly I dont see how anyone would pick that class. I could see people picking smith or crafter maybe.....and I stress MAYBE. And the ones that do will get bored with it around lvl 40 or so IMO.
Crafting should be accessable to all classes like in EQ unless you can Multi-Class (which you can't).
Am I making any sense?
Candymanz sorry I was focusing more on what I read on the site as to what you wrote. What I am getting from the Class page on EQ2 website you can start with one of 5 base classes. One of them being Artisan. So looks like a warrior wont be able to craft.
Or atleast thats how Im reading it.
There seems to be a bit of confusion, one sure fire way to clear things up is to just head on over here and read the first section, it deals with the artisan skill. All their information has referenced and is sited so no worries about it being hearsay and conjecture. Basically, the original idea was to make crafters and adventures two separate paths to play the game, and while the two still offer to vastly different ways to enjoy the game, now the same player can enjoy both. Sadly, from everything I have read it leads me to believe that you will not be able to master each of the crafting skills under one character. For example, you may be a level 32 Brigand and a level 21 Alchemist simultaneously, but you would not be able to peruse the builder profession (at least with that character). Hope that clears some things up.

If it is correct that if you pick an artisian class....and thats only thing you can do for that char....
dude thats not boring.....
Alot of people LOVE crafting and plus thats why you make 2 chars.....your adventure class...and your crafter class.....If you think crafting is boring..then just don't pick an artisian class.....wouldn't that help don'y ya think?
I for one know i will have a blacksmith probably weapon crafter......but idk yet......I mean crafting is alot of fun...you just have to have patience....its cool not having to fight alot of HARD things to level.....and hell for your epic(if it is in eq2) you probably just have to craft it.......who knows...

Im getting conflicting info. The reference site that was posted above doesnt really look like an official EQ2 website. Why would the official website be so off as to what the class system is like. Thats what people care most about. I am gonna head over to that website forums and ask there.
Dont think that I am just blowing you guys off cause I am not. I am the type that would like the most correct information about a game before I go blow my hard earned cash on it. Thank you for all your imputs and If I find anything out from the other forums.....or they re-enforce what you guys say. I will post the info here.
