when they were talking about changing the stats to make medics and other healers more viable. the surplus auction house was days from being put in.
A month or 2 in i think. I remember there being a lot of talk about pau's (which dont seem to be in based on this forum.)
Can anyone catch me up? I'm thinking of playing again but i dont want to go back to the same crap i left.
Has the economy changed or anything like that?

Stats have been changed to have more of an effect.
- Body boosts armor, mind boosts damage from logos attacks and spirit increases the chance of a critical.
Whether tthat makes medics / healers more viable - I dont know. I play a exobiologist - currently lvl 37. The only thing that causes me problems are stalkers and striders which I find very tough to take down.
I play with 2 friends who are combat classes - so my exo does a reasonable job of providing healing/support.
Surplus Store is in - and I find this very useful.
Plenty of bugs have been fixed, new missions added in the mid levels, some extra content at the high end.
PAU's are still in development.
Economy - I have no credit problems, its still tiered ammo with increasing costs. You still get credits from killing stuff, selling loot and auctioning stuff in the Surplus Store
Crafting - still not useful as you replace equipment too fast, and you can only mod - not make.
Combat pace has slowed a bit as critters are tougher and now take longer to kill.
Patch 1.6 which is not released yet is promising to bring back the large XP kill bonus from beta - staggered. So at low levels its max 200% at 40+ its 600%.
You will have to explain the crap further for me to be able to answer - I have been playing since pre-launch. (and beta before that).
Allow me to explain a bit further

- Body boosts armor, mind boosts damage from logos attacks and spirit increases the chance of a critical. The only stat that matters is body , mind does not work correctly and spirt does not work at all ( confirmed by GM )

The only thing that causes me problems are stalkers and striders which I find very tough to take down. Medics are not that viable at lvl 50 the power of there heals and buffs arent as good as consumables that can be purchased ie armor rechargers ,stims ect plus they have the worst armor in game and the worst profession weapons
I play with 2 friends who are combat classes - so my exo does a reasonable job of providing healing/support. see above plus recon is being restructured in 1.6 and partialy nerfed
Surplus Store is in - and I find this very useful. Yes
Plenty of bugs have been fixed, new missions added in the mid levels, some extra content at the high end. NO extra content at the end yet there is still no lvl 50 content in the game
PAU's are still in development. YES theres currently a teaser on PTS
Economy - I have no credit problems, its still tiered ammo with increasing costs. You still get credits from killing stuff, selling loot and auctioning stuff in the Surplus Store at lvl 50 it costs you far more to do anything then any other profession they really messed up medic making them use the most expensive ammo and consumerables to function but there is really no "Economy" in game credits are easy to come by just hard to hold on to at 50 ( thats where playing the MS house comes into play )
Crafting - still not useful as you replace equipment too fast, and you can only mod - not make. and modding at only lvl 2 unless you whis to destroy an expensive piece of equipment
Combat pace has slowed a bit as critters are tougher and now take longer to kill. Yes but you prob wont notice a difference it hasnt been that great of a change

i am full medic, somewhere in the 30's, was hard to get groups... seemed like most people soloed everything with a shotgun.
yeah i hated the mechanical cap as a medic, but that didnt bother me.
money wasn't a problem for me anyway.
i dont know why i enjoy pure healing classes, mmorpgs always seem to punish me for it. I never even used leech guns because of the ammo.
That really sucks, i figured all the grinding up would make me popular in the end game, but your saying not so much.
in all reality no one wants you in the upper lvls cause they can heal them selfs or in some professions have no need to heal because of the in sane amount of damage they do ( Spy) and medics bring the group down because they do very little damage
and yes i dont understand why MMO's seem to feel they need to punish people that heal
IRL its usuly the other way around
well thanks everyone, youve helped me make up my mind about coming back... i think ill keep watching it for changes and see how it turns out before i resubscribe.
Thanks for the honesty and not blind fanboyism.
I too suffer from "healer syndrome" in my gaming. and {cough} as an nurse anesthetist it would seem in my life too.
I have noticed that the devs that did this game are clueless about teaming dynamics. They never really made a medic class, made a need for it and added usable buffs like other MMORPGs have done.
The Specialist side of the game is for the most part, bork. BANGBANGBANGBANG can be done by anyone and Specialist do it poorly.
For the most part Buffs & DeBuffs last for seconds and are not worth casting when you can just BANGBANGBANGBANG during that time with a Soldier class and it will alreayd be dead anyhow.
In order to fix the monumental failures of this game it would require a complete overhaul of the skills, powers, teaming dynamics, equipment, classes and mobs... don't hold your breath,
If they couldn't get it right in six years worth of development, it isn't going to happen as the game is haemorrhaging population and being laughed at by those in the industry.
