On a side note, Eve is a game for people with brains..
*rolls eyes* yes because it is soooo hard of a game.Kinda 2 year old comment I would be used to seeing on a WoW board not a supp adultish brain game as you seem to think.
really? you honestly think that stupid players can progress far in eve? i disagree.
I have been playing EVE for about a year now and really enjoy it. That being said the game has the most snobby community I have ever seen. The majority of people I have encountered really do seem to think they are better then other gamers because they play EVE. "Go back to WoW!" comments are thrown around like they are going out of style.
Can stupid people progress far in EVE? That really depends on what you mean by progress. A lot of the progression in EVE is measured by the size of your wallet. You don't have to be smart in any way shape or form to progress. You can sit in a belt and mine day in and day out and make a fortune. Don't have to be smart to do that. You can run missions. Don't have to be smart to do that either.
Yes, its true, the community at EVE is rather smug about their ability to master the game, but then, they should be, while it might be an easy game to play, it most definitely takes some skill and effort to master it. Let's be honest, WOW can be played quite proficiently by folks as young as 10 years old. I assure you, with EVE this is definitely not the case.
I'm a reasonably bright person, a good, experienced gamer, and I've been playing EVE regularly for 9 months. Despite the fact I read a lot, study the game when I can, I am amazed at how much I still don't know about EVE. I can't tell you much about mining, other than what I read in a 40 page guide. And no matter what you think, becoming a top level miner is an art, not just a activity.
Astro investigation, market trading, moving illegal goods, how to survive a blob fight, heck, how to survive a good gate camp are all skills I keep working on every day. Toss in 0.0 politics and strategies, management of a corporation and the list is pretty much endless on what you can do.
I agree. EVE is a hard game to master. However I have to disagree that they SHOULD be smug about mastering it. Being smug is thinking that you are better then someone else because you can do something they can not. I dont think there is ever a good reason for that.

If I can do something others cannot, Im sure Im better. In any case. I think its the definition.
Hi everyone this is my first time here to the forums at this site I just wanted to post about this game i started 2 months ago and it was difficult at first but Ive gotten the hang of it and Im really having fun there especially EVE Radio chatroom and yes Im there everyday listening to the DJ's and having fun if any of you are ER chatroom my ingame name is Jennifer Nisha Ive become quite the attraction for people in there come and say hi sometimes !!!
EVE online is a great game, and yes, if you want to be a successful player, you have to be smart yourself.
I had a roommate that played EVE with me, and he wasn't very smart. I would say his IQ was about 90 or so (Don't smoke pot kids, or you will be stupid). We were both pirates, and he got blown up constantly, while I avoided such blunder/traps/ganks by knowing what my enemy had planned by watching the signs.
Anyway, he constantly had to PVE to get money, and all I had to do was PVP to get mine.
If you think you don't have to be a smart person to play EVE, then you are right-- anyone can play. If you want to be good at it, then you gotta be smart.
