Is there any game out there that is different from WoW, free to play, and FUN? It would more than likely be a game that is older than WoW, since current generation MMOs are all trying to copy it.

I realized that when I make my requirements really specific, the answer I get is "That game simply doesn't exist". So I'm willing to lower my standards if I can find something that is at all fun.

Well, "different from WoW" is rather broad. What specifically didn't you like in WoW?

For me, the "not-WoW" game was City of Villains. The things I hated most about WoW were the endlessly tiered endgame, the limited character customization options and boring quests. Now the quests in CoV are just as boring in theory, but they're better presented, making me feel like I'm not just some errant boy.

Then again, perhaps you're looking for a more sandboxy MMO, like the old SWG...or a game where PvP is really well integrated, like DAoC...so, let us know what non-WoW qualities you're looking for

 

Edit: Doh! Free-to-play, you mention. Then ignore my suggestions, sorry. Guess it's still a good idea to describe those "non-WoW" qualities you're looking for though

The "fun" part of a game depends on your likes and dislikes. Anyway, i'll look at Guild Wars (you must pay for the game, but you don't have to pay each month), it's quite different from WoW.

 

Or maybe you should try games similar to Diablo (Dungeon Runners is quite fun if you don't play a lot each day)

NOTE: Playing Dungeon Runners for free is quite boring, because you can't equip the higher gear (you just can equip the 3 lowest types of equipment). And after completing quests or killing monsters you will get some coins that can be exchange for yellow equipment (the first one that you can't use playing for free), it's random generated and always for your lvl.

 

PS: Mythos is a game made by the designers of Hellgate and Diablo, and it seems to be very popular.

My biggest issue in WoW was that EVERYTHING was a grind, not just the leveling but faction rep, professions and even pvp were grinds. Plus once you got to max level all there was left to do was farm so you could afford to raid.

So if there is a game that isn't like that, I'd be interested. I don't really want to play guild wars because I'd have to buy so many expansions.

I have checking new games in the Game List and i saw Dream of Mirror Online. It seems a kind of Ragnarok Online but more evolved and simplified (but it's enough complex)

 

Personally, i won't try many new games because i am tired of learn how to play each game (followed by disliking the game, and uninstalling it).

 

I want something more direct.

 

PS: Not similar to Diablo, it was a good game but i played enough time to dislike it.

You may not enjoy it, but I will suggest Wurm Online to you. Its very different than any MMO I've ever played, and I've played a lot.

The next one I'll suggest is Mythos.
