My worry is just based on the fact that the combat system is purely based on melee. At the same time the magic classes are really suffering and that just can't work in a mmo. Atm it will cost this game alot in terms of playability.
your statement is fairly accurate. Combat for all classes is more melee based than class based. It seems the 4 archtype of classes are there to include some flavoring and to enhance your character. But mages, priests, rogues, and tanks all are very similar in terms of combat,,,, according to the rumors,,,,
I think that people are expecting some sort of "nuker" class.
The only true nuker based class is demonologist.. Herald of X is a melee mage with up close magical spells. Their demon form allows them to do more burst dmg in a short time but it's all mostly melee based.
Necro's are the "pet class" that excels in kiting, aka range combat,,,the same with Rangers.
So, as of now, AoC only has one true nuker mage class
