You're better off spending your money on one good card get something like an 8800gt ($200-250) 9600 180ish or for ATI go with one of there 38XX cards. spending 200 on SLI won't get you the performance of a single card for the same price and if you only buy one card you have the option to upgrade to a second one later.

im not all that big on ati ( i never used any good ati cards except for the x1600 but that was a long time ago)

i red some reviews on some of the 3800 they sounded pretty good but they still say the 8800gt is better... i have a crossfire board on hand... if not the 3800 then what else should i go for? im big on performance its very importiant to me versus quality....

I have to agree with Coconaut, go with 1 better card than 2 lesser in SLI. 8800GT is a good card, around $200-$250 for the standard version amd $250-$280for the OC editions. Even then its just a tad more, and if you want to do SLI, you can buy a second one later.

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

Ya the 8800gt would be my choice it doesn't cost much more than the 3800's but offers a lot more performance especially on high res it seems.
