Does Gear Matter?

I have been reading up a lot about this game. Though I am extremely excited about the May 20th release, I still have questions. Are there raids at end game? Or is it strictly PvP at end game? I know the end game will have raids on player bases etc.. but that doesn't interest me. Will there be raids for mob slaying and gear gathering. Thanks for any responses.

From what has been released officially, there is going to be both PVP and PvE High End content. You already mentioned the Sieges which will happen in and around the Battlekeeps, which is obviously the PvP Aspect of the Game.
On the other hand, there will be High-End Raid Dungeons, with Gear-Drops as well. As far as I recall, there will be 8 Dungeons in the Release version, or at least that's what's been said.
Something to keep in mind though. PvP and PvE Gear will be specialized towards each. That means gear you get in Raids (PvE) will help you in further Raids (Tiered Raiding System), and gear aqcuired through PvP will help you in PvP. Crafted gear is said to be highly customizable (slotted) to the players needs.
