Hello! I filled in your form. As a fellow psychology student, I'd be very excited to see the results when you are done. If possible, could you e-mail them to me?

Yes sure I can keep you up to date with my results. I have only just started data collection , so  may be a month or so before I can give you any details. My email address is LKKaye@uclan.ac.uk, if you want to send me your email (rather than post it on here) then I can contact you when I have details for you.

Thanks for filling out my questionnaire!!

    Hello again people.

Following from the research which many of you kindly participated in several weeks ago, I am now at a stage where I can present some of the findings of my study to you.

As you may remember, the aims of the study were to examine positive effects of gaming, specifically to show that positive experiences during gaming, may have positive implications to psychological well-being (e.g. life satisfaction, happiness, etc). My results showed that the best predictor of well-being was when there was a balance between the gamers’ skill level and the challenge of the game. Also, that overall, “flow” (e.g. an experience which occurs when you are involved in an activity which you really enjoy doing, for example) was predictive of well-being (which supports the aims of the study).

Also, on a more descriptive level, the most common feelings and experiences during gaming were enjoyment, deep concentration and competitiveness. Furthermore, from the open-ended question, asking what participants’ main reason for gaming was, the most commonly cited reason was for the enjoyment/pleasure, followed by need for a challenge and for escapism.

Once again, I would like to thank you for your interest in my research, and should you wish to contact me regarding further details on the study, please send me a PM including your email address and I will contact you with more info.

     Kind regards

If you want to see the true psychological results from gamers, hang out in the off topic forum for about a week!

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
