Im wondering why you are saying it should be delayed again. I havent seen much negative stuff coming out saying that it isnt ready. Am i just missing it?
What, you don't notice all the posts (by the same 5-10 people) on these boards that spell doom for this game over and over and over again? My personal star are the one-line messages. But of course there are more detailed bashings going on. Take your pick. *chuckle*
Will it be delayed again? According to the Dev's, no. Then again, the Dev's said that last time, too, so while I am hoping it won#t be, I can't be 100% sure.
Will it suck at release? Again, I don't think so, but hey, that's just my opinion and I will finalize my opinion once the game is out and I have played it. Anyone who finalizes their opinion before then...well, I've said my thoughts on that often enough.
I understand that there will be bugs at launch thats a given with mmo's. I just hope it's balanced enough to be enjoyable. I'm holding my final judgement until I can actually get my hands on the game.

I lost interest in the game after the first delay. It is kind of a trickle effect that if delays continue the audience will get smaller...
How can delaying the game be bad? Sure I would be disappointed but a delay would only mean the devs care enough about the product to not release it unpolished.

It goes hand in hand with small minded people Rohh. Those that lack the capacity to see the 'bigger picture'. You know! - when you step back for a moment and see it from all angles / approaches / reasons. Delays in mmo's 99% of the time are positive and outweigh any negative connotations. That is if the delay is under say two years in advance. I mean its not as if anything exciting has come out in the mean time.

Their are some cases where more time is need, but when you over shoot your entire schedule by over 1 year, something is desperatly wrong. Maybe you can tell us something about the game right this momment that could actually give a resonsable bit of clarrity why a developer needs more time for "any" project. Funcom really has only done 1 other title in this feild , Ao, which has been plagues with hardware and bug issues since it's release. Think the delay will come, the community will grumble , another game off the radar (TCoS)will come out and this game flops like a salmon swimming up stream. It will awesome to prove me wrong won't it , you are counting the days as we speak , but I am batting 0 and 2 on my game predictions , so if I am wrong, this will be my first strike at bat .
Your logic is seriously flawed. Look at some of the top MMO's and see how many times they were delayed. You seem to base everything around Vanguard, which flat out ran out of money.
Seriously, judging a game based on delays is just silly.
I believe that ultimately it's up to the people in charge of project and their situtation.
Not all mmo's can wait it out if they have financial problems. But early release like Vanguard may piss of too many players and game would not get its full amount of subscribers that it should.
As a player, I would rather get well built game that comes out late than game that's still has too many bugs, unfinished content released early. But that's just me and everyone is different.
End result for the purpose of MMO company is which is profitable for them. If they wait they might sink too much and may not have any choice but to come out as work in progress. Should there be another solid game like WoW that comes out before their release they might loose huge number of subscribers that are leaving WoW at this time.
All we can do is speculate, they are the one who have to decide.
No telling what condition the game will be on May 20th when it releases, but I suspect it might be a little "rough" around the edges.
I think they are sticking with the May 20th date as well, mostly because in this months issue of Gaming for Windows there's a two page color ad in the front not only advertising the game, but clearly posting a May 20th launch date, (something normally not seen in those ads).
Of course the text says, "Heads will roll, May 20th, 2008"
So perhaps they mean the developer's heads if it doesn't release on time.

Um, if this is a baseball analogy, you need to learn the game before trying to use them again. 0 and 2 is 0 balls and 2 strikes. In this case, if you're proven wrong that's 3 strikes and you're out. Course, if you are talking cricket or some other sport, well, I have no idea which so carry on.

It's also worth noting that the 25th March 2008 Release Date has actually been the one Funcom told us the day they delayed AoC last year. So this isn't really news, just a heads up

I always crack up when I see stuff like this. It just shows how little some people know about software development. Anyone can easily plan out a project right down to the T and give a little fudge room but there are always the X factors that come in. People get sick, people go on holidays, natural disasters, bad weather closing roads, people quit and have to be replaced meaning the new person is behind and has to catch up & figure out someone elses work (and thats no easy feat when it comes to programming or even art), stuff doesn't always work as planned or as well as expected so you have to slow down or even stop development on sections for redesign.
These are just a few of the X factors in design time that affect any industry where a product is being made. Some industries can nail things down to a T but then everything they do is an exact science with a hand book that walks you through how to do things. There's nothing like that for software development especially when everyone has their own way of coding logic.
AoC really doesn't seem off the chart for its release / delay time though they did make the public mistake of sticking a physical date on things. Thats a PR department issue, don't stick a date on something unless your lateast 75 to 85% sure thats going to stick.
There will always be people who are impatient and give up on hyping up on the game but the moment that game comes out and its good...Guess what..those people forget all about the Harping on boo hooing its delayed and buy the game. There's no loss in customers due to delays unless of course the delays are too numerous and for serious mechanic changes or investor changes *coughs Vanguard*.
I hope AoC comes out this time and its good..good luck to the AoC fans and I wish your game well.

Well i dont think i ever heard of a game, that hasent been delayed. and im a pretty hardcore gamer. A game being delayed does nothing to me, and i always wonder why people get very upset about it, because it always happens. When the game get released i will see if its worth playing. People who say "Since the game got delayed i refuse to buy it", really cant buy any games, since all games are get delayed at least once

While I'm concerned and eager for more info your whole arguement is seriously detatched from reality.
Software development time frames are far from set in stone where you can predict exactly when something is done. The only way I've manage to accomplish things on a schedule is to inflate my expected development times by about 2x. That said managing a project of the size and scale of AoC is going to be far far harder and depending on the experience of the team working together giving any kind or detailed delivery schedule and sticking to it is going to be a virtual impossibility.
I rather have delay's than a rushed out product full of bugs. I get feelings of dissappointment when a game is delayed, but if it means a more stable, balanced, polished product I'm all for it. Also I think in this day and age gamers are less forgiving and will not support a shoddy product. The days are over when games are rushed released to be patched weeks down the line.

They should delay it again.
Doesnt matter how many times the game is delayed, if it is released before it should be it was rushed.
