I appreciate it.  I do my best to read everyones' posts before replying as well.  Regarding the personal choice, I had hoped and expected as much which is why I didn't see any bearing/connection between an Etch-A-Sketch joke and someone's beliefs.

Now, even though the game has its fair share of problems, most of which came with BC, I still played and enjoyed the game up until recently. I've just gotten so tired of the endless grind. WoW is just that; a massive grind.
I'm not here to troll, I'm here to make a point. If you don't want to/can't discuss, then simply say so and we can move on.

Certainly.  Of the two, this is the Dr. Jekyll whereas the last one sounded very Mr. Hyde.  I also agree there can be improvements made, but of all the MMORPG's I'd played (Everquest, Everquest 2, City of Heroes/Villains, Guild Wars, Voyage Century, etc.), this is the only one of those I'll pay a monthly subscrition for.  So...at the end of the day, love it or hate it, the company is getting the funds I'm gladly giving.  I do hope they 'keep it up' in regards to improvements and new content.  I think that's where Everquest had a big missed opportunity.  When PC's got better, programming languages, and even after World of Warcraft's release, they could have made some of these changes to draw subscribers instead of releasing another expansion and asking for $40 in addition to the $14.00 monthly subscription.  My friends still on Everquest love the game, so for them I think it's a good fit.  For me, I'll go with the gaming majority not because its in the majority, but because to me the game is more fun.

This game is mad. Me and my friend share our account (yes i know the rules who gives a f**k). Back then i was addictive. Stay 12 hour playing and then sleep friend takes over for 12hour and sleep repeat. Got to 54 in 4days game play. That good. I love BG now thats fun when your a twinky xD

I'd been feeling rather luke-warm about the upcoming expansion, however in reading a few articles about it, it sounds like there's a few things to get excited about.  The main thing I noticed about the interviews with Blizzard is it appears they have listened to a lot of complaints players have had in the past.  Primarly, the discussion on PvP sounds well addressed in the upcoming release.  There's to be a zone-wide PvP with many objectives, vehicles, and total involvement of all who are present.  Not too shabby...and much better than one optional objective in a zone.  The idea of Northrend at first looked like a page out of Everquest's Scars of Velious with the zone concepts, but something is to be said about that.  Scars of Velious was when Everquest was at it's epiphany.  I'm not crazy about the Death Knight alliance concept, but for horde it'd be interesting.  My hope is they'd have something more befitting for the alliance soon.  I think some of us were raising eyebrows hoping for more races and classes, but naturally that makes the game more complicated and patchworthy.  Overall, I believe I'm going to be one of those schmucks standing outside of the game store at midnight and calling my boss around 7am to tell her I'm not feeling too good.  Staying up all night gaming never does.

What I find so good in Wow ?

The fact that the game mechanics changed a LOT.

Wow changed in the way of playing choices and the way the game itself is progressing.

From a pure PVE (grindy) raiding content game to a multi purpose choice of playing options.

These changes make the Wow-haters sometimes look like silly fools when they discuss old mechanics that aren't even in the game anymore.

People are now far more interested in the new WotLK AND gear upgrades than with TBC, because they LIKE to have upgrades.

Why? Because the upgrades can be obtained by playing what they  like MOST (Be it BG, arena, raids, the preferred daily heroic, of even just a good profiit at the AH).

And IF you like the way you play and can choose how and what you play, you are not grinding of course, because you have fun.

WotLK is just a logical step in this development  of different choices.

I have a very good feeling since about a year now, because Blizzard managed to let the game grow without an expansion for almost 2 years just because of these different playing options.

    Good sign indeed.

Ya, couple servers i play on are overrun with kids that think its cool to be offensive or rude.

I haven't had general chat on in awhile, not sure how bad that still is, but trade channel can be horrendous at times. I end up sitting there right click report, right click report, right click report for about 10 minutes till most of the offenders can't talk anymore.

Thats the only saving grace, only takes a few people reporting you for abusing a world chat channel, and your baned from that channel.

RP/PvP servers seem to be the most adult and reserved. Communities there seem to be much better.

I agree.  The troll post obviously had come from someone who had not read the very first post of this thread...just like many people who hop onto the game without reading the terms and conditions.  I give one warning, then report.  I've never seen it happen again from that person or received any kind of retaliation.  I always have trade channel off because if I want to buy something I go to the auctionhouse.  My reportings usually come from General channel, though not a bad idea to hop onto trade to 'clean up the server' a bit.  The more I play, the more action-oriented I've become towards offenders.  Overall, the GM's are very responsive on just about any issue and am grateful for it.  Customer Service is paramount for me.

I can understand that.  I didn't want to leave Everquest 1 because I spent so many years building up my main character.  But, I can say after leaving I don't miss it.  It's one of those things we have to self-gauge.  Some friends of mine did miss it and went back after being away two years.  I did recently install Commodore 64, Nintendo and Atari emulators to play those oldies but goodies.

If you are typical of the GW community, then that gives me yet one more reason not to even try it.

Good answer.  I'm sure there are a lot of good player in GuildWars (my brother-in-law and mother-in-law included) but I must say the lobby, aka cities, were burning my eyes with the leet-speak.  After finding no roleplay around, I'd made my exit.  Of all the games I've played, I can say that World of Warcraft has the best support for roleplayers...especially in roleplay guilds.

There is a lot to like about WoW.  I really hope that the expansion brings even more.
