I have not seen one image of a "low or medium" setting for this game, everything has been high using dx10.
...
I just thought I should make a correction there, since you're under the impression that the screenshots currently available are using shader 4, which are not.

That is not a logical but an understandable expectation. What I do expect to happen is that people will push the limit of their machines by raising the graphics as much as they can, without making it a total slide show. Of course some machines that run adequately the current MMOs will probably struggle with this game. I'm afraid I can only speculate on this, since only the developers have the ability to play the game without the debug code that is necessary to be present in a meaningful (not marketing only) beta.
Please stop saying it's beta. Those excuses are OVER now.
Uhhh ....
It's still in beta ... that's not an excuse ....
The game should go gold any day now. They have to print packaging, burn cds, and ship the game around the world. All of this takes time. We are less than two months away and according to Avery, as of last month, players have not even began to test the Battle Keep (border kingdoms) system yet. The list of system that yet to be tested by the players in beta is mind boggling for a game that is less that two months from launch.
This close to release, the only thing that should need fixing is bugs and server stability. But this late in the game players just starting to test key systems of the game like battle keeps, crafting, etc. The timing is mind boggling if they think they are going to hold May 20 as the launch date. If you've ever worked on a MMOG project, you know that builds of games take weeks to make and time is not on Funcom's side atm.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
Don't tell me the sub numbers in May, don't tell me the sub numbers in August, tell me the subscription numbers on January 1, 2010. Then you can tell me if AoC was a p.o.s. game or the next "WoW killer" as some on these forums seem to claim. Until then, it is all marketing hype just like Vanguard was and we all know how that turned out.
Now you're just digging yourself into a huge hole from which there's no escape. It sounds like you're saying that if AoC can't have WoW's success in terms of sub numbers, then the project should just be entirely abandoned right now. I know I speak for a lot of people when I say that I don't care if AoC has 10 million subscriptions by 2010.
No one is predicting that AoC will be a "WoW killer" and that's a stupid standard to set anyway. I take real issue that a game is either a "P.o.s." or a "WoW killer", and I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's also equally as stupid to predict that AoC will be the next Vanguard. It's pretty clear at this point that you are just trolling this forum.

Funcom has their own internal testing going on while they have testers look at the things they want feedback on. This allows them to have multiple clients and to diagnose and test the game more effectively. They can be doing this while the publisher prints DVDs and boxes. It's not a step by step process.
Why did you come here anyway? You're just hating on the game and making arguments that can't be supported because you don't know what's going on at Funcom.

Shannia has 'beef' with the game because it doesn't implement a type of crafting that passes his own mark. Therefore alot of his posts do come across negative and I feel there is some type of bitter resentment in them due to what has been said about crafting.
The game will go gold about 1 month from now in my estimation. Leaves 1 month from launch. I would add that in my opinion the only thing left to go into the game boxes is the dvd itself. M$ plant in south wales can print and burn 250k copies in one week, Funcom will have something similar lined up somewhere else. The Audio sountrack CD for CE edition has been complete since first week Jan'08. The art books / maps will of already been printed.
Everything is in order, the logistics are all layed out and ready.
They will want to try and patch the game client as much as possible before going Gold and realistically they still have 5-6 weeks to go, at a guess before then have to go to the printers and enough time for shipping. While that is going on, continous testing of the game will still happen up until the time Open beta comes.
Its funny how we all post here, with our vast experience of logistics of making a game...
But I have to ask why does this all bother you Shannia, you said you were done with AoC? is this some spiteful slap before release? Some different angle of attack?
Avery, why the peronal attacks against me? I'm not here slamming you or anything else. I thought we were friends. Do I expect friends to agree, no. But I never thought I would see you personally attacking me. Then again, you've being personally attacking a lot of people on these forums lately. I'm very disappointed with what you just said about me when I considered you a friend. I guess I was wrong. Slamming people to make yourself look good is your new plan for "responsible journalism"?

I wouldnt say that they were personal attacks at all sorry if you read the words like that.
I am just trying to understand where you are coming from with everything you have said that I have read over the past few months. The direction from the initial post to were the topic is now is completely different, its like you argue one point then move onto another.
If you see me posting anything that looks harsh, its always been in defence, or exasperation from the idiotic posting thats becoming more frequent here. In this case there is nothing personally directed in my post at you, nor was it intended that way, Im just asking some questions. If you find them to be personal types, which to be honest I don't think they are, and your offended by them, sorry about that.
As I say Im just trying to understand where you are coming from. I know you have issues with the crafting system, but then you get all escalated and move from one negative point to another and so on.
Like I said just trying to understand.
And there is suppose to be a shread of sarcasm in the that post too!

I never saw anything that might be considered a personal attack from Avery.
