I'm currently patching the trial version from the EQII website. But I'm waiting for AoC to come out so I need an in between MMORPG for 2 months (maybe more). I think I'll buy EQII since I really liked what I read about it and the material on youtube. I checked my retail and they have 4 or more different boxes for sale. So my question to you all is: the download from the trial is it the full game and can I upgrade by simply paying the fee? Or do I need to buy a box from retail? These are the boxes I found (I added the price so you could make a better estimate:
Everquest II - €15 / $10
Everquest New Dawn - €6 - $4
Everquest Depths of Darkhallow - €40 - $50
Everquest Prophecy of Ro - €40 - $50
Everquest - The Anniversary Edition - €35 - $42
Please help me out and thanks in advance!

I tried with Firefox and Internet Explorer but neither of them can display the link you just gave me. The bars are displayed, but the actual content stays black. Also, what would I be paying for it?
Rise of Kunark will probably be 40 - $50 (or less)

I'm very disappointed but I checked every website of the 'gamingshops' here in Holland/The Netherlands but none of them seem to sell Rise of Kunark They didn't even had it in their inventory.
I found some online shops that knew of it's existence and could sell it to me tho' but they were all out of stock or as they said 'delivery problems'. So I'm kinda stuck atm. Is there any use in buying just the plain Everquest II box for $10? Or would that be a waste of money?
are you able to use Amazon.UK ? it has Kunark in stock
www.amazon.co.uk/Everquest-II-Rise-Kunark-PC/dp/B000WNA8UC/ref=sr_1_1/026-9156674-8420464
otherwise, try to find Echoes of Faydwer
its got everything but Kunark

You will be making your newbie experience a lot more painful than it needs to be if all you get is the $10 starter box. Really you want your first toon to start anywhere but Freeport or Quenyos, and that's all you'd get with the ten dollar box.
Those zones are fun to start in once you have learned the game and can craft yourself some items (even common crafted gear is better than most of the quest rewards in those areas), but I wouldn't send a new player there personally.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
I searched everything but the names I listed in the first message is all I can get my hands on Amazon is from the US right? I would get like a $30 shipping fee if not higher so that's a no go.
I guess Europe is just slow, same goes for music and movies for that matter. But come on it's been October since it's release right? The shops should've been full of those boxes!
EDIT: Nadia I just read your reply. That's a wonderfull idea! But it's risky too. What if something goes wrong with the download or my HD crashes? My money will be gone then. Does anyone have experience with paying for a download?
actually you don't need any software to use the game. Well I mean is what you are buying is a code to unlock your account. ONce you have an account you can get the software via the patcher program which is tiny. I don't ever install from CDs I just download the station patcher and click install and install from the net. Go to bed and in the morning it is done.

I did some researching on the 'buy to download' part suggested by Nadia but Station.com isn't really giving me a break. What I figured out was that I can buy an subscription for a month to Rise of Kunark.
I also started a post about the trial taking 16 hours to download and the answer was it's the full game. So am I right if I say that once it's done patching I have ALL the software and if I buy the subscription from Station.com I'm all set to go to play EQII with ALL the expansions? (Meaning I'll save like $30 on not buying the software but downloading it?)
you will have all the software you need
but having the software on your computero is
- not - the same thing owning the EQ2 Base game and/or owning the expansions
if it helps,
GuildWars works the same way
you download the entire game for free but you won't be able to visit any "chapter content" until you buy the chapter.

Let me get this right: I will have all the software I need but I just can't acces it?
But if I buy the subscription from Station.com for Rise of Kunark ($13 a month) I WILL be able to play every expansion as in the whole game right?
Just double checking, sorry to be a bother
you cant pay for a subscription until you buy the game anyhow
- it will make more sense when you subscribe
but prepare to pay $40.00 as a "onetime fee" when you do subscribe
(unless you already bought the game from somewhere else)
and yes,
buying Kunark
gives you ALL expansions and ALL adventure packs
Kunark gives you all existing EQ2 content

Ok thank you for the reply! I will just wait for the trial to get done, play like an addict, wait for my paycheck to come in for this month and I'll try to buy the whole game online.
Frend, Kunark or bust..........

It's sad but true... I live in The Netherlands > Europe and Amazon.com nor Amazon.uk.com deliver there
trial has a level cap of 10 -- and you will be 10 pretty quickly
also if its the EOF trial,
only your 1st character is restricted to being Fae
just ignore your 1st character and you can play almost any race

In stores around me there is a EQ2 Classic box you can buy that's only like 5 bucks that gives you all the basic stuff. In any case, it's cheap as hell and you can get a month of the game for like half the cost of the monthly fee.
In my opinion, that's the best way to go about things. Still lots of content, but once you decide you wanna keep going, just buy the rest of them later on down the road.
