Problems with the Trial please help me

in Everquest II

I know this is my second post but I'm really starting to get into this game so please bare with me.

I'm working on the trial for 5 hours now. I got it from their site but the timer still says that it needs 16 hours (!!!!!) to complete the patch. And it has been watching ever since I download the 80 MB in like 10 minutes. I'm using a cable connection with maximum of 200 kb/s download speed. So could anyone tell me what the hell is going on? And yes hours, I thought 16 minutes in the beginning but I checked again after 2 hours and it didn't change. So I'm here asking for guidance from you fellow MMO players once more. What went wrong or is it normal for the trial to patch for 16 hours?

    Which Trial was it? The standard EQ2 trial or the Play The Fae trial?

    Also the Station Launchpad downloader is slow, and your pretty much downloading a few years worth of patches. So it might not be something on your end, its just the SOE patcher.

    what you are getting is the full game downloaded as well as all patches and expansions. Yes it is natural for it to be a huge file. Not sure about the 16 hours...your downloader by have gotten stuck. What you could try to do is stop it and start it again. You shouldn't lose your downloaded files, but it has been so long since i downloaded the game...might be wrong. Hopefully someone can clarify for you

    Yes it's indeed the Play the Fae trial. Then I'm pretty much scr.wed there. I was hoping to be able to play the game this evening since I've been looking forward to it all day

    G`day mate ...

    You can rest easy that its not really you.. The downloader SOE has is terrible.. it will take anywhere from 6 to 10 hrs .. plus remember THEN it will update once you finally log on (another few hours)  ..

    But i will say this.. its worth the wait imo .. myself,i just started downloading it before bed ,when i got up it was done ..

    16hrs is too long..no dout the download might have timed out .. as the other posters said .. just cancel the download and start it up again .. it should pick up right where it left off ...

    Ohh .. im on cable as well

    I just restarted the patcher but it went up to 18 hours now! For the record I really really appreciate it that you guys are taking the time to help me. It's good to see there are friendly people out there willing to help someone else get to play the MMORPG they crave for

    But still, 18 hours...

    try the station launcher

    might install faster

     

    also....make sure your firewall is allowing a port for the installer, that would really slow down your download if it doesn't

    Ok I installed Station Launcher. I selected the folder where EQII was being installed. Now it shows a picture of EQII with Trial on top of it. It's down to 5 hours now. Lot better than the 18 hours but is it still the same thing the original patcher was working on? Because I could remember it saying Play the Fae or something like that.
