Dark elves

I like to roleplay elves, and most of the time join the "bad guys" faction. Their career paths are very appealing to me and their looks hook me up, but I have some questions/comments about them.

1. Witch Elf:  from the information at the official website, it looks that  this career is similar to the WoW rogue. In the beginning I thought that this career would be a spell caster (I am not very familiar with Warhammer lore). Seems that the main strength of a witch elf is her agility and poisons. Maybe there would be different type of poisons you can apply to the dagger. I will try her and see how it plays. There is no male version, maybe because of the lore?

2. The Disciple of Khaine: another close-combat playstyle, male/female option is available,  can wear better armor than the witch and use the "dark arts" for healing. It would be interesting to play this one since it's not the typical healer that stand in the back casting spells. It's like a tank with healing powers. Awesome.

3. Black Guard: no clue about this one. Anybody knows or have an idea of its play style?

4. Sorceress: seems there is a male version since there are portraits of sorcerers in the official site. I don't like robes, robes are over rated lol.

The lack of male witch elves is indeed due to the lore. It's also the closest to a WoW rogue you will find in WAR. You will be able to apply different poisons to your dagger, but in the form of an action, not buy using an item.

I'd be careful to call it a tank. The disciple is better armored than a witch elf, but that's not hard to accomplish, since witch elves pretty much have no armor. I see the disciple as a medium armored healer.

Information on the Black Guard is rather scarce. It will be the tank archetype for the Dark Elves. Some recent coverage seems to indicate, that it will be sort of an anti-magic tank.

My personal choice for launch. The male version actually caused a lot of unrest in the community, for it does not perfectly fit into some of the lore. The one thing I want to see is a sorceress blowing herself up due to excessive use of Dark Magic.

Paul Barnett gives some information about the Black Guard in this video.

They use a "Hate" mechanic and the more they hate you the more damage they do towards you.

Oh my.. Paul Barnett made me laugh out loud once more. "When it's in three pieces on the floor that means it's dead" hahaha

I expect the "Hate" mechanic will be similar to the Dwarf Ironbreaker's Grudge, as in the more you attack his teammates the more damage he will do to you. I hope (hope!) that Hate isn't tied to how much you hurt the Black Guard, or it will be a gimpy class. The only way to make self-damage Hate viable would be to give the BG ways to mitigate damage from teammates and draw it onto himself.

If that's the case, it would be great to group with black guards lol. It sounds like the "rage" mechanism from warriors in WoW. More rage, more damage.

Yeah I believe it only works in groups,  if X mob is pounding on your healer, Black Guard and Ironbreaker classes will move up in DPS with their hate to that mob.  I dont believe it will work if the same mob is harming you though, gives more of a reason to group in RvR for war than to go solo in the war.  Besides the typical you get more morale bonuses for being grouped.
