Why do they keep saying 1-20 is solo mode with "small doses of multiplayer" when the solo mode is just one chain of quests and the primary leveling you get in that stage is from Tortage day (multiplayer)?

Altough you play in SP mode you are still connected to the world, and can use the chat to communicate with other players.

I'm aware of the day and night cycle, I'm asking why he's saying that 1-20 is single player mode with "small doses of multiplayer," when 1-20 is pretty much the same as the rest of the game with only one string of solo quests.  Most of the xp from 1-20 comes from multiplayer mode, which wasn't what they're original plan was and definitely not what they're advertising...

From my understanding, 1-20 can be done entirely solo if you so desire. I amy be wrong but its only multiplayer when you want it to be; otherwise you can solo to 20 and then its a real MMO.

Yep. I understand it the same way from the information I have seen. You can CHOOSE to game during the day with others (and can make 20) or you can solo during the day and night(destiny quest at night) and make 20 (Weezer at Warcry states that you should be able to hit 21-22) in about 8-10 hours, depending on how you play.

Erling, man, where does he get those wonderful jackets, lol!

In the interview he mentioned that you could solo all the way to 80 using destiny quests.   Nice, I like the idea,  solo or mutli at your discretion.

Planning the dev team split between the current game's evolving needs and the future content updates by (or at ) launch day is great news for the titles longterm outlook.  The constant polish and additon to content commitment is great news.  I didn't doubt it but it's better to hear it.

You can't solo to max level using the destiny quest line alone. You can't even leave Tortage using the destiny quest line alone, far from it. I fear that people got confused when he started talking about how you can solo to the max level, which is nowhere near the same as saying that you can play the single player game up to the max level.

The Tortage area does give you the single RPG feeling and it's quite evident by the way the areas were build (and showcased in many official videos now). Although the area was changed to accommodate the multi aspect, the original design is quite evident.

I watched again and Erling says clearly that Tortage is mainly solo with a bit of multi-player,  so that takes us to lvl20'ish.  Later he's talking about the large number of raid dungeons but if you don't want to do this as a player you could focus on destiny quest's and solo your way upto 80.

Confused, a little, but as for tortage being solo with a single-player feel, for the most part, this I understand.  As for after tortage, it seems to me, that although in a mutli-player environment you can choose whether or not to solo up to 80 with the aid of the destiny quests.

The destiny quests not being a guaranteed path lvl 80 by themselves, makes sense and I'll take your word on it.

New Video however what in the world is a Destiny Quest?

All MMO's have grinds. If you don't like to Grind then MMO's are not for you.

I think they're storyline quests based on your class, maybe even race throughout the game.

It is a storyline quest indeed, the "main" quest line if you like it.

I think you're still confusing soloing ability in an MMO (which is what the video is talking about) with single player gameplay. You can certainly solo to max game, but the single player part of the game is revolving only around 1 quest line (which is negligible in terms of exp).

No, it's fine, I got it.  Thanks though.

Single-player-solo feel through most of tortage.

After Tortage you can choose to group up or solo play in the multi-player environment.

The destiny quests would just help out with a few lvls of xp not take you the full way lvl80.

It's easier to solo in an mmo on a pve server than a pvp one because group protection is a must.

No problem, I've got the difference between single player mode(I did it all myself) and mmo-solo mode( I did it without "needing" a group more than twice a week).

Still, I plan to be grouped and on ffa pvp and I'm in a guild for AoC atm.

If you go over to the Warcry site and read the latest Mitra's Method by Weezer, he was allowed by Funcom to detail his newbie experience. He writes that you can, indeed, solo up to about level 21, 22 in Tortage. This being a combination of the Destiny quest line (which are only done at night) and regular quests offered (during the day). During the day you may see other players but by no means have to interact with them.
