One Piece
One Piece is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda with an anime adaptation. It focuses on a ragtag crew of heroic pirates called the Straw Hats, formed and led by Monkey D. Luffy. Luffy's greatest ambition is to obtain the world's ultimate treasure, One Piece, and become Pirate King.
Death Note
Death Note is a Japanese manga series created by writer Tsugumi Ohba and illustrator Takeshi Obata. The series centers around a high school student who discovers a supernatural notebook that allows him to kill anyone by writing the victim's name and picturing his or her face. The plot follows his attempt to create and lead a world cleansed of evil using the book, and the complex conflict between himself and those assailing him that results.
Digimon
On Mar 10th, CDC Games, a business unit of CDC Corporation (NASDAQ: CHINA) and pioneer of the "free-to-play, pay for merchandise" model for online games in China, just licensed "Digimon RPG" and "Digimon RPG2" for distribution in North America and The People's Republic of China from SK Telecom, a leading mobile telecommunications operator in South Korea.
Digimon RPG and Digimon RPG2 are developed by Digitalic and are also jointly planned by Digitalic and Bandai Korea Co., Ltd. CDC Games intends to launch Digimon RPG in North America later this year. Digimon RPG2 is currently under development and is expected to be launched first to the Korea market later this year.
Digimon follows the lives of Ichigo Kurosaki, who is a high school student with the ability to see ghosts, and a shinigami (Soul Reaper or, literally, "death god") named Rukia Kuchiki, who crosses paths with Ichigo while hunting an evil spirit known as a hollow. Rukia is wounded during the ensuing confrontation with the spirit and is left with no choice but to transfer her powers into Ichigo.
Digimon hatch from eggs called Digi-Eggs/Digitamas(In the English language iterations of the franchise there is another type of Digi-Egg that can be used to Digivolve, or transform, Digimon. This second type of Digi-Egg is called a "Digimental" in Japanese.) They age via a process called "Digivolution" which changes their appearance and increases their powers. The effect of Digivolution, however, is not permanent, and Digimon who have digivolved will most of the time revert back to their previous form after a battle or if they are too weak to continue. Some Digimon act feral-like. Most, however, possess large amounts of intelligence and human speech. They are able to digivolve by the use of digivices that their human partners have. In some cases, as in the first season, the tamers had to find some special items such as crests and tags so the Digimon could digivolve in another stage called ultimate then mega.
The first Digimon anime introduces the Digimon life cycle: They age in a similar fashion to real organisms, but do not die under normal circumstances because they are made of reconfigurable data. Old Digimon and Digimon who receive fatal wounds dissolve into infinitesimal bits of data. The data then recomposes itself as a Digi-Egg, which will hatch when rubbed gently, and the Digimon goes through its life cycle again. Digimon who are reincarnated in this way will sometimes retain some or all their memories of their previous life. However, if a Digimon's data is completely destroyed, they will die.
Pokemon
The concept of the Pokemon universe, in both the video games and the general fictional world of Pokemon, stems from the hobby of insect collecting, a popular pastime which Pokemon executive director Satoshi Tajiri-Oniwa had enjoyed as a child. Players of the games are designated as Pokemon Trainers, and the two general goals (in most Pokemon games) for such Trainers are: to complete the Pokedex by collecting all of the available Pokemon species found in the fictional region where that game takes place; and to train a team of powerful Pokemon from those they have caught to compete against teams owned by other Trainers, and eventually become the strongest Trainer, the Pokemon Master. These themes of collecting, training, and battling are present in almost every version of the Pokemon franchise, including the video games, the anime and manga series, and the Pokemon Trading Card Game.
In most incarnations of the fictional Pokemon universe, a Trainer that encounters a wild Pokemon is able to capture that Pokemon by throwing a specially designed, mass-producible tool called a Poke Ball at it. If the Pokemon is unable to escape the confines of the Poke Ball, that Pokemon is officially considered under the ownership of that Trainer, and it will obey whatever commands its new master and/or friend (depending on how that trainer treats Pokemon in general) issues to it from that point onward, unless the Trainer demonstrates enough of a lack of experience that the Pokemon would rather act on its own accord. Trainers can send out any of their Pokemon to wage non-lethal battles against Pokemon; if the opposing Pokemon is wild, the Trainer can capture that Pokemon with a Poke Ball, increasing his or her collection of creatures. (Pokemon already owned by other Trainers cannot be captured, except under special circumstances in certain games.) If a Pokemon fully defeats an opponent in battle so that the opponent is knocked out ("faints"), the winning Pokemon gains experience and may level up. When leveling up, the Pokemon's statistics ("stats") of battling aptitude increase, including Attack, Speed, and so on. From time to time the Pokemon may also learn new moves, which are techniques used in battle. In addition, many species of Pokemon possess the ability to undergo a form of metamorphosis and transform into a similar but stronger species of Pokemon, a process called evolution.
In the main series, each game's single-player mode requires the Trainer to raise a team of Pokemon to defeat many non-player character (NPC) Trainers and their Pokemon. Each game lays out a somewhat linear path through a specific region of the Pokemon world for the Trainer to journey through, completing events and battling opponents along the way. Each game features eight especially powerful Trainers, referred to as Gym Leaders, that the Trainer must each defeat in order to progress. As a reward, the Trainer receives a Gym Badge, and once all eight badges are collected, that Trainer is eligible to challenge the region's Pokemon League, where four immensely talented trainers (referred to collectively as the "Elite Four") challenge the Trainer to four Pokemon battles in succession. If the trainer can overcome this gauntlet, he or she must then challenge the Regional Champion, the master Trainer who had previously defeated the Elite Four. Any Trainer who wins this last battle becomes the new champion and gains the title of Pokemon Master.

Getting the NEWS of MMO Games

Of those on your list I have to go with Digimon. That would be a really cool IP to turn into an MMORPG. I am curious though why you didn't have .Hack listed? It would be another cool anime based MMORPG I'd love t oplay besides a Robotech of course. But since you don't have either my choice is Digimon.
thanks for your reply
Getting the NEWS of MMO Games

.hack...
would be a pretty standard dugeon crawler, with a bit of twitch and open world areas tossed int.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
[x] None - I can't stand Anime-style graphics.
Well, since I popped in with some thoughts on how the last trio of Anime MMORPGs could work, I guess I should cover these too.
One Piece
While I am a fan of the series, partly due to it's extremely unique art style and the fact that it made me cry at the death of an inanimate object (seriously), I can honestly say that getting an MMO that's worth playing out of the series would take a ton of work. Between the creation of an incredible amount of Devil Fruit abilities (since One Pice has so many strange power types), a system that strongly rewards a Nakama (a small crew that would work together on missions and quests of various types) and a very sea-based world. It seems very unlikely, though, and that's a shame.
Death Note
Just how would a game like this work, exactly? The premace of the show simply wouldn't work for an MMORPG on any number of levels. For starters, just how many people would get Death Notes? What would the naming and name-discovery system be like? Would any players be able to simply work with the police or play the investigator tracking down the numerous Kiras? What kinds of clues or patterns would these Kiras make available for those tracking them? If they could pull it off, this game could be an absolutely amazing mystery/detective MMORPG and a game that I would love to play, but slow-paced, intellectual MMOs just don't seem to be a major market, and there are a ton of questions that would need to be answered about the game's design.
Digimon/Pokemon
I'll stick the monster battling games together, and heck, let's throw Monster Rancher into the mix too. A monster battling MMO is pretty much an automatic money printer. Traveling the world, collecting monsters, fighting and trading those monsters with your friends online... it's all the sort of thing that would draw in a ton of players. Nintendo doesn't seem to want to make a Pokemon MMO, but Digimon certainly seems like it could turn out to be an entertaining game.
Overall, I like anime, and anime can work in an MMO if the market doesn't become drowned in it. With that said, some of the series' are better suited for an MMORPG then others. With a little forethought, it is entirely possible to make an MMO in a setting such as Ghost in the Shell, or Cowboy Bebop, or Trigun (each of qhich could be incredibly awesome, actually). But the most effective concepts at this moment will likely be those based upon action-centric programs: Naruto, Dragon Ball, Bleach, and the various mecha anime like Gundam or Macross or even Gurren Lagann.
