24inch Widescreen CRT..mind blowing

Got my FW900, and let me tell you the thing is a utter beast.  Been working on the settings and finally got it where I want it, and using the BNC hookups with a high quality BNC cable makes a difference.  Looks so good it got my wife hooked on EQ2.  She was a EQ gamer back in the day but just couldnt get into anything newer, and she just loves this new monitor when playing her fae in eq2 now.

Been testing the HD 1080p on this thing and the Indiana Jones movie trailer looks freaken awsome on it.  Doing things on this I never dreamed I would do on a CRT.  Course I upgraded from a 17inch CRT viewsonic G773 graphic series that wasnt even a flat tube.

Anyone else got ahold of one of these badboys?  I am not saying this monitor is for everyone, as it IS 92 pounds, but if you got room and game/3d App/CAD this thing just seems perfect.

For those wanting some kind of picture, here is a long standing thread at another forum with just about every picture or bit of information one would need:

LCDs are becoming better then CRT with each passing upgrade and soon LEDs will be on the market to take over that, CRT will fade away. While the images looked nice i noticed its from 2005 if it was the exact same model that's old school. My guess is you got a bargain for it, something cheap. Also it being a sony brand gives me less of a hard on for the monitor.

I'd recommend an LCD with HDMI, as this for gaming, quick refresh rates and response times, and crisp images.

This monitor is also for my DMD class.

The LCD you listed is great for gaming for the refreash rates and low input lagg.  However for crisp images and true colors I would sooner go for a IPS, but then i would have to deal with the input lagg during gaming.. and.. well.. the price of the ones I would consider on par with my CRT are well into the 1000usd range.

Hey if you can find a panel that has the speed of a CRT with high contrast/medium brightness, along with accurate color for around 500-600usd let me know.

Also I have yet to see a firm date for Nec/Mitsubishi's LED techology for mainstream consumers, and the price range of around 3,000ish isnt exactly going to replace cheap 300 dollar TN panels anytime soon.

However sony is also in the race with their new technology, and I dont have 25,000 dollars to buy one of their LCD monitors on par with the FW900 trinitron I have now.  Yes it was cheap, like new, and has a 6 month warranty.

If i could have found a solid LCD that handled superb gaming/3D rendering and also CAD I would have bought it.  I couldnt find one in my price range and this was, and still is, my best option for the requirements I have.  The CRT is big, but the thing isnt replaceable yet for the mainstream consumer.  Even on the high end consumer.  Business.. yeah..

There was a reason the studio work in 300 movie was done using these.

However I didnt mention my requirements and why I entirely bought the monitor which included 3D workstation intentions alongside gaming.

Wow half of that $400 was probably the shipping lol.

Doubt my desk or wallet for that matter could even support that beast. Still great price for an amazing 24" crt.
