Pre-Ordering it Online Vs. At the store.

ValentinaValentina Member RarePosts: 2,108

Hiya, I'm thinking of pre-ordering AoC from gamestop, but if I do it online I notice they have the 3-day early access, with downloading and installation starting on May 14th. What I'm wondering is will they also ship me a physical copy, or is this a download only? (If I pre-order it online)

  • They will also ship a copy.

The 3-day offer is for in-store pre-orders as well, not just online.

Yes, if you order online they will still ship you the box copy of the game you bought.

yeah they do ship you a phsyical copy, me and my guildmates were discussing this on ventrilo one day, uget the download on the 14th, play the 17th 3 days before anyone else does. and then your shipped the actual physical copy to your residence. which truthfully is a pretty good deal considering. but also realize the download is on order of 30gb from what i gather. so prepare for a big download lol #1 pray u have a fast connection ( i know i do thank god, god bless roadrunner and its 1.25mb/sec download speeds :P) and 2 make sure you have enough Harddrive space lol. i got 2, im downloading onto one, and installing on the other.

oh come on, 30GB download is ridiculous

Noone really knows how big the client will be when it'll be compressed and ready to ship. 30GB is way off, at least for now.

They let us log in on the 14th to start downloading it, so 72 hours of downloading should be enough time IMO.

Pretty much, and some people think that the shipping time is going to interfere by taking a few days but it doesn't really matter since the pre-play code lasts 10 days.

  • ValentinaValentina Member RarePosts: 2,108

Yeah but you also get 1st month free I think.

Was the 3-day thing only for a limited time?  I am looking at the CE edition pre-order right now and I don't see the 3-day offer, just the war mammoth and a guide book.

Order from your local stores.  Buying local keeps people employed.

The only time I buy online is if I know I want the software but will be out of country on the release date.  More and more, if you pre-order from your local store, you get a "head start" period anyway, so if there is a delay in getting the box copy the company doesn't shut you off.  When the store gets your copy in, you just go pick it up, enter your code, and voila... carry on like normal.  You lost no gametime due to shipping delays.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

    /agree

The only time I order online is from Newegg or when I'm buying some jewelry for the wife.
