Yeah i mean come on! Who wants to WORK? We should just start out with all the knowledge of our class instantly because that would just R0X0RZ!! I mean, I can be a Paladin right now if I want to! I dont need your silly concepts of TRAINING! Its just too much work!
I like the branching system idea for many reasons.
You get to make a character and make decisions as you play instead of right away. Ex. You go on fighting hoping to be a paladin but along the way you decide you like the way fighting goes if you were to lets say be a monk. But if you were in another game like WoW for instance you would have to make another character to get that class. But in EQ2 you will already be a few lvls higher and ready to choose what you like best.
It makes it so one class cant necisarily "lvl up" faster than another. Like a druid vs enchanter. All EQ vets know its hard lvling up as a class like a cleric compaired to a druid. This way they all lvl up at the same amount of difficulty.
If you you are a crusader and you cant decide to be evil or good yet...(saying that you can switch by doing a quest or somthing) youl have plenty of time to decide and see if you like your current alignment.
Its actually somthing i would like to try in a EQ game.
Oh yeah and pluss, It kind of goes along with the story.
You start off as a refugee coming to your chosen town for the first time with no experience at all.
And what you guys are saying about WoW being better because you dont have to work... that rediculouse. You guys are just talking out your a$$es. I mean, are you really that lazy to play a game that has more concept and content than some simple game that has done somthing that has been done a million times? Because if your boasting about a game that lets you chhose a class right off the start , your boasting games such as , oh i dont know, EverQuest!!! your obviously threatfull apponent in the little battle between EQ2 and WoW that resides in your head.

I believe the whole point of this class system is to show accomplishment and reward for it

like in a way the more you play the better you get, buy going through ranks till your final class change.

World of Warcraft wants to use a hero system where after lv 40 or so you branch off to more options.

I like both games and already have both pre ordered..
