Its now due out in Autumn, the reason for the question mark is that i wasnt sure if people thought it was meant to be out before or not, previous ideas were around June as that is what alot of websites said.
So its been pushed back for a few months, that was revealed at the show in Paris this morning, lets hope that isnt the main news :P

Thats fine, I would rather them release a finished and polished game than do what most other developers do and release too early.
yeha im fine with it, in the ign or gamespot interveiw it was stated WAR is pretty much done content wise, so these extra few months are all about making sure everything is perfect.
Additionally it gives WAR a wide berth of the WOW addon and AOC, so if people get burnt out on those two WAR will be right there!
Quite possibly you are correct and in that case it is more to Mythic's credit that they do delay until it's been sorted rather than follow the norm for this genre which has been release anyway and let the public pay for a beta. Oh and btw, that's what a beta is, a stage of development when fundemental flaws are found and addressed,{ Mod Edit }. Just thought that I would point that out so that you could address your own fundemental flaws
Nah man, AoC will release on the appointed date this time. Gaute Godager stated that it will definately release on the 20th May Guaranteed. Everyone knew WAR was goin to be delayed. Don't expect it until xmas 08 at the earliest id say

Yeah your right this guy is a mega Troll, I hate being in Beta and having to read crap like this.
I could not agree more...
Would'ent worry.
DAoC was one of the better games at release. Sure they were very content light (i got to 36 and swapped realms since there was no itemization past 28 or so on release) ... but to thier credit the game was not a total bug-fest. (Sure it had some bugs .. but none were *game-breaking* and it was nothing like alot of MMORPG releases)
Just hope they learned thier lessons from DAoC. For me DAoC started to go downhill once RR's were introduced .. then TOA was killer ... mixing playsyles is great (i'm a fan of PvP and PvE) .. making people play a style they dont want to in order to progress in the area they do want to play is bad. By that i mean ... making PvE folks play RvR for realm ranks to compeate in PvE .. and making RvR folks play PvE (ToA with its MLs and Artifacts) to compeate in RvR = Bad. Keep both styles of play .. but make them have very little (if any) impact on the other style. (Ie RvR rewards that only work on other players and PvE gear thats optomized for MoBs)
Mythic have a great rep of talking to thier player base ... I doubt a delay will turn people off as long as they keep talking to the player bases.
Hell I may even skip AoC for WAR ... waiting to see how they round out atm ... (ffs who am i kidding .. I'll play both )
For the looks of the videos, they better make the game feel much more dynamic and vivid. And solve of course any more basic flaws there might be.
Now Paul has to do a funny podcast about the delay and all will be happy.
This is a smart decision from Mythic because
a) they won't have to compete with AoC directly
b) the end of june is by far the worst time to release a game. I'm not going to spend my vacation holed up in my apartment to play WAR! End-of-summer blues is the ideal time to start a new MMORPG.
However, I can't say I'm not a tad disappointed. These delays are working on my nerves pretty badly! I wanna play!
On the other hand this way I'll get the 6 clear months to play AoC in peace before I switch over. If they stuck to Q2 release I probably wouldn't bother with AoC - now the horrible decision is taken away from me and I'm thankful. All's well!
He's the main thing which puts me off this game...
Let's suppose it shows EA aren't influencing Mythic too much...
As much as I hate to say this, this is very bad news for me. It's probably time for me to say: No WAR for me.
I can't wait untill fall for WAR. I felt it was bad enough the first time it got delayed. I feel like if this game is gonna go anywhere they can't do stuff like this.
Ok it's only 2 delays so far but I feel every week is crucial for WAR.
Now I would have to hide in my winter-cave again and I simply can't do that stuff anymore.
GL WAR, chances are I'm not following you anymore

here is my take. No this is not a quote from anyone at mythic.
The beta works levels 1-30 (check)
we have every class in the game except dark elven tank and high elf nuker.
other reporters I know, have seen tier 4 and say it looks like it is ready to go, so we can expect that content to come up in beta any day now as well.
so all we need is to polish. its not like wow where you need to script instances and encounters... the players make the end game content with attacking eachother, not computer controled monsters.
so Im thinking september 29th to be late and june to be early.
Mark Jacobs just said "Fall 08" over on Warhammer Alliance so I would pray for september.
Hmm, an autumn release you say. Fall officially ends Dec 21st, so I guess they've bought themselves until the end of the year to get it shipped. (just in time for Christmas)
If AOC really is releasing on May 20th (and I think they are) they people of Funcom are jumping for joy right now. it gives them a 3-6 month headstart to capture and retain a substantial portion of the player base.
Sure, if it is mostly average, then when WAR comes out a bunch of people will switch, but if players are having a great time in AOC, many won't make the leap, at least not until they've worn out AOC first, which could result in a slow start for WAR.
Yes, of course the die hard Warhammer and DAOC fans will switch immediately, but they are actually a small piece of a much larger player base that I'm sure Mythic is hoping to capture.
Finally, by releasing in the fall, its almost certain they will compete with WOW's upcoming expansion, which i'm sure no one would willingly do. (ask SOE how EQ2 faired releasing opposite WOW)
Never the less, it would serve no useful purpose to release early/unfinished, nothing will kill a game quicker these days so there's no room for error, and delay becomes the only option.
I'll still be playing when it comes out, I think, but it might conflict with my plans to try out AION and CoS as well. Just have to wait and see I suppose.

Most of my friends are following AoC and I see little to NO chance now of me being able to get them to even TRY WAR right now...
As I've said before, about ANY game is fun when you have friends playing with. And AoC is even a good game, so add 1+2 and you have my situation.

In a way it's disappointing for me because I will be at a different job and not able to really play the game if it comes out this fall. I don't play WoW anymore so WAR delay doesn't make me want to offer that game any more $$ so I will probably end up spending time with AoC .
I had wondered how to play AoC (really play it, not just make a couple of low level toons) and then switch over to WAR in the short time between the original release dates of those 2 games. Now the industry has decided for me. One less worry served up with a small side order of disappointment.
Such is life.
Go play AoC how much you like, WAR will still be there when your ready for war again...
I don't get why ppl are in such rush about this? Would you rather they release a crappy game than delaying?
On one hand if they need to polish up the game then a delay is a good option at this point in time considering they can not afford a mistep at the start. But on the other hand AoC will have established a player base by then (as mentioned already), WoW expansion looms on the horizon, and Aion (which is not really talked about) will also be on the scene.
Also a lot of non subscription games will be out for the fall/holiday season as well.
We shall see how this works out.
I guess I should further explain myself some more because I know many gets offended with saying stuff like that (That people can't wait).
I would prefer a more simple game like WAR hands down. But I would want WAR as a fast "in-and-out" kind-off game which I think it suits well as. Meaning, especially now with such rich rivalry, that each week I have to wait for WAR is extremely painful.
I heard alot of people saying the game looked ready for Q2 and no further delays would be needed. Which even I did read in the announcment. However, now it seems they are truly GOING IN for being "wow-killers". And seriously, anybody think that will happen? I suppose it could be a wow killer "to you" or "to me", but as a whole, are they not really just seeing a mirage at this matter?
The game SHOULD be delayed if they don't feel it's ready OFC. I apprechiate that but as I said WAR will not be that type of game I expect to wait 6 more months for just to play it a couple of hours a day >_<
Much can still happen and AoC could either 1) be delayed aswell, which would lead me into a complete resignation on PC games for a very long time. Or 2) it could be a bad game, which doesn't seem to be the issue so far though.

I see alot of posts of people saying that it is better to release a polished game late than a buggy game early, and i agree completely. But, these posts are in response to other peoples posts about how they are disappointed that the game was delayed further.
I would like to state that just because people are upset about something being delayed, does not mean that they want a crappy game early instead of a polished one late. We are upset because we were hoping that a polished game was going to come out in early summer. Now, the game is still comming out polished in fall now, but the disappointment of waiting another three to four months for something that we thought was going to be completely polished and ready sooner is still there.
Please stop posting the crappy early vs late and polished posts. Everyone is on the same page there, and im tired of reading them -_-

Not suprising really. Actually somewhat smart. Let AoC release, let WoTLK release. Let people see one is worse than expected and the other the same thing thoes players have been fed for a long time and then release your game.
I as others are am alittle disapointed but understand it completely. My biggest disapointment will be if we wait all this time, being told how great the game is for it to be a flop. I dont think thats the case but lets face it, its always a possibility.
Also in a cynical way I see this as an PR ploy. "We are delayed again but look! Pre-order our CE and get into open beta!" Verry tempting to others who had not planned on getting the CE but now just may. Lets not forget that even if this isnt a mythic move, it smells of EA all over it.
Ah well, it will come out eventually.
See that's just it, so many people around here have really no idea what they are talking about. If they had kept to the Q2 release, they would give them like less than 90 days to add the rest of the classes and balance them for a "PvP" MMO? You would have to be smoking crack to think that you do that this close to release. Balance in PvP MMO's is one of the most critical aspects of the game. Nobody knows this more than Mythic.
However, if you think that this game is getting pushed back because of just polishing, you need to take a step back and look at this big picture. Missing classes and balancing for PvP is a little more than just polish. Even a turd doesn't take a year to polish. Hopefully for everyone's sake they will make good use of this extra time. This does help AoC because a lot of people sitting on the fence because the 2 games release dates were close may feel a bit more entitled to check out AoC even if only to kill time till WAR.

Actually, I like the early levels of most MMORPGs best anyways, so I agree. Play AoC, and by the time WAR is released I'll probably be tired of it, and ready to play something new.

If you're still working on some of the classes, then how could you have possibly finished tweaking open RvR? I think that's going to be a very important part of the game, and obviously it hasn't even been tested with all classes yet.
