I know how much you gun-guys love to quote this part of the Bill of Rights, but seriously, the Right was written with the intent to keep a gun to form a militia in the time of need against a possible recourse by the British.

well, the supreme court doesn't seem to think so.

How can we form a militia if we dont have guns before we need to form a militia?????????

The idea of us saying "ok we are forming a militia against the government now can we have guns?" Is ridiculous.

    The Bill of Rights

Second Amendment: declares "a well regulated militia" as "necessary to the security of a free State", and as explanation for prohibiting infringement of "the right of the People to keep and bear arms."

also, if guns were banned guess the only people who would have them? Criminals. Criminals will ALWAYS find a way to bring guns in, U.S can't stop drugs from coming in then they sure as heck can't stop guns coming in. Great idea, have everyone unharmed and have criminals having guns...that sounds great

I know how much you gun-guys love to quote this part of the Bill of Rights, but seriously, the Right was written with the intent to keep a gun to form a militia in the time of need against a possible recourse by the British. It holds absolutely zero weight in today's society...

I understand that some of you guys absolutely need to have that "boom stick" to make yourself feel powerful, but seriously, you only make yourself look bad when you try and apply the 2nd amendment to your own personal needs.

Anyways, carry on, guns for all and a bullet for everybody.

"the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Notice it doesn't say the right of the militia, it says the right of the people.

And all male US citizens between 17 and 45 are members of the militia.

Section 311 of US Code Title 10, entitled, “Militia: composition and classes” in its entirety (with emphases added) defines the militia as follows:

    (a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.

    (b) The classes of the militia are —

    (1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and

    (2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

exactly. The friggin SWING vote on the Supreme court basically stated openly in the arguments in the Heller vs. D.C. case that he believes the 2nd amendment gives an individual a right to keep and bear arms. The militia is just reaffirming the Militia Clause earlier in the Constitution, while beginning a new thought of individual ownership of firearms.

never saw a gun add. except them clint eastwood movies.

and american tv does kinda suck.

i see the importance of supreme court nominations poking around in this thread. never vote democrat, even if you see the candidate pandering with a rifle for the tv.

I don't recall ever seeing a commerical on TV that advertised guns specifically. I seem to recall hearing an ad for a gun shop that basically said, "We're a gun shop and we sell guns. If you want a gun, come to our store." But no specific guns were advertised and no prices given... and that was on the radio, not television.

I think the OP is a troll.

On the 2nd Amendment: 'A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.'

So, *in order* ot have a "well-regulated" (regulated meaning working properly) militia, it is necessary for 'the People' to keep and bear arms (so that they have them and can be proficient in their use). The government 'shall not' infringe on the ablity of the People to keep and bear arms because that could jeapordize keeping the militia "well-regulated" (it would lead to a situation where potential members of the militia would not have arms and be proficient in their use). End result: the Federal Government is not supposed to pass *any* law that infringes on the right of the People to keep and bear arms. I think this is an excellent Amendment.

I'm going with the later on that.

Sounds to me the OP is bs'ing. I have never seen let alone heard of a gun commercial and I have lived in way too many states to count at this point. Visitted more-so.

Even on hunting channels or OLN have I ever seen a gun commercial, hell not even a bow commercial.

And to play devils advocate: Yes there is more money in media in the united states . That is why commercials are everywhere. We have a wider audience and demographic. So marketting Execs/ Advertising Execs well ...We like to strangle you with branding.

Welcome to advertising a large audience. Go back to Eastern Europe or where ever the hell you take your vacations from.

    Ps. You lied.

    /ignorant end to conversation.

I would much rather be in country with some guns everywhere than be on a continent that rolls over to the Muslims without firing a shot.

We don't have gun advertisements on t.v..

Also, you have to have a license to own a gun legally, so maybe check our laws before you condemn them.
